I'm not sad. American companies have sought out cheap instead of American materials and labor.

Screw 'em

Id say so.

They also fell for the EV mandate bullshite and last I heard they had over a million units sitting at a plant in Kentucky with no where to ship them.

I mean, bad decision after bad decision is going to put a lot of businesses in a position where they have to start firing workers. Maybe they shouldn't have tried to rely on the government so much.

The 63-year-old CEO made the admission on Friday, when he spoke about supply chain issues stemming from America's tense trade relations with China. Ford and other US auto brands are heavily reliant on the rival nation to get rare earth minerals, which are essential to car production. American companies get about 90% of their rare earth supplies from China to build features like windshield wipers, seat belts, and speakers, CBS News reported. So when President Donald Trump sparked a tit-for-tat trade war with the country that resulted in China implementing a 125% revenge tariff, automakers were left worried about the future.

Appears Tesla is the only manufacturer in the U.S. that can produce EVs at scale and make a tidy profit

The EV mandate was always stupid. If there just had to be some mandate it should have been a hybrid mandate.

This is the FO phase of some poor choices by “American” auto companies.

Very simply put… yes. Changing the mindset of investment in domestic markets and goods is the goal.

Because your own govt has screwed up our monetary system to where American labor is too expensive.

it depends on what the Op is talking about.

Is this really losing?

Chicago Assembly Plant: Ford temporarily shut down production at its Chicago, Illinois, assembly plant in May 2025 due to a supply chain disruption, specifically a shortage of critical minerals needed for braking systems. Production was expected to resume by May 19th.

So shutdown in may, resumed operating in may?
