Mates, we could do a lot worst than young Kon

Cool. Third person description of who SW would suck off, sorry draft. Compelling…

I hate to do the white/white comparison, but he reminds me a ton of Kispert. Solid size and physical, potential elite level shooter. But a borderline starter and more likely a role player.
I hate to take a guy top 10 that can't start. At least with Fears or Bryant, there is a path to becoming an above average starter or maybe more. I think you can find guys like Knueppel in the mid to late 1st. He's a finishing piece and we aren't there yet.
If we take him, I hope I'm totally wrong and will totally buy in. I'm seeing mocks with him top 3-5, so maybe he has higher upside than I am seeing..

Kon showed more than Kispert in college imo
Kispert was not a 1 and done and his game was all about shooting the 3
Kon was a well balanced, tough player that could create his own shot and be scrappy in other areas of the game at Duke
I think he’s a championship level role player. We will draft him and he will win a championship on another team as a Derrick White/Klay Thompson lite type character on a real team.

Good points. Having watched a lot of Duke, kon was also basically Duke’s point guard all season. He just made plays all over the court. Athleticism is not his strong suit but he has a Luka-esque ability to control his body to get to the rim. He just seemed to be bigger and glide at will. He won’t be a lock down defender but will make a lot of heady plays on the defensive end.
I want him or Tre. If we draft Malauch I will cry.

I would love that pick. He’s going to be a solid role player in the league for years. To me, he seems like a poor man’s Klay Thompson.
I want either him or Fears at 7.

If you don’t like his mock draft show us your mock draft? Sir Winston was simply doing a service for you.

Why are people so in love with Fears? Pels fan really want a worse Kira Lewis Jr?
Had Flagg not been the dominant force (or in college this year), Kon would have been the best freshman in college basketball and likely be in the discussion with Dylan Harper for the top spot.

That's a lazy comparison, with all due respect.
Kispert was a 22-year-old rookie who played four years in college. Kon is a one-and-done 19 year old with room to improve. Kispert was mostly a spot up shooter, averaging 1.8 free throw attempts a game in college. Kon can shoot, but can also attack the goal, averaging 3.3 free throws a game. Kon is also a much better defensive player than Kispert.

Love the mock mate! I think Konnie can bring a special culture to New Orleans and help get the team white I mean right

1 thing seems clear and its that no matter what we do this board is going to melt and hate it. We already have to deal with being miserable during the actual season, can we not have a little joy and fun talking about the prospects?
It seems some people hate all 7 of the people we could possibly draft and then are upset at the possibility of trading the pick. Is there ANY happy scenario?

I thought that too, but Knueppel has shown more shooting and facilitating capabilties as a 1 & done guy than Kispert had shown in 4 years.
Someone said his ceilling is Gordon Hayward meets Evan Fournier and I can see that. His floor is also Luke Kennard

Those people trying to compare Kon to Kispert are just lazy because they are both white and can shoot the 3. Kon is a much more aggressive defender than Kispert and he's also a much better passer and is great running the pick and roll. A better comparison to Kon might be not be for the youngins in here (I’m not old myself but I’m not 19 still either) but I see Chris Mullin when I look at Kon and anyone that wouldn't want a guy like Chris Mullin on their team should go watch some highlights of him. He would be a perfect role player to pair with Zion and Trey. If we wanted to go to a small ball lineup that can shoot around Zion you could play Zion, Trey, Kon, CJ and Karlo as an athletic small ball 5. You could also use Olynyk at center and sub Herb for CJ if you wanted a little more defense.

I wasn't the first person to come up with it. They are the exact same size and play the same position, plus are primarily known, coming into the draft, as elite shooters. It's not a massive leap.

Players mature and develop at different rates. You can compare players of varying ages and years of experience to one another. Also Knueppel is going to be a 20 year old rookie vs Kispert as a 22 year old rookie. Once again, not a huge difference.

I did not say that they are identical. I said they are very similar. This is a quote from Kispert's scouting report (link to full report LINK
" Strong ball handling skills for his position … Scoring off the dribble is a strength and can finish around the rim with either hand with ease … Has a soft touch around the paint … High awareness, cuts to the basket at the right time and has great chemistry with his teammates … Nice mid range jumper and excellent shooting stroke… Unselfish player who teammates love to play with … Winning player who puts the team over individual accolades …"
Also..
" May take some time to adjust to the quickness and athleticism, of players at the next level, particularly on the defensive end … Not a standout athlete and may struggle to create looks with an average first step … Lateral speed is below average. At limes lacks the foot speed to stay in front of ball handlers …"
Both of those, positives and negatives, sound like the same critiques of Knueppel. Sure, there are difference, but a lot of similarities...

what a terrible comparison.... other than both being white and they can hit 3s at a good clip, they are pretty much nothing alike...
