re: Ahmad Hudson went CRAZY at this weekend’s LHSBCA JSE Team Camp
Posted by Coach D on 7/2/25 at 2:58 pm to Captain Crown
Make no mistake about it, Ahmad Hudson is a football player. He is not Trey'dez Green on the basketball court. He is physical, athletic but everything you see is at the rim. 6'7 C do not translate like that, not when he is a HM football guy.
Now... the 2028 PG on his team... Darren Ford 6'2 ... there is an absolute basketball STAR that LSU will be on.

re: One week till the draft with picks 7 & 23. Who do you like?
Posted by Coach D on 6/18/25 at 11:01 am to Balsamic_duck
7 - Tre, Ace, Kon, Malauch (no Fears, aka Kira Lewis 2.0)
23 - If not a big then I want Raynaud. I’ve been high on him since mid season. Modern stretch big with passing and some rim protection. If Malauch or Essengue is the pick at 7, then Demin, Traore, Powell, Saraf, Hugo … versatility on perimeter.

Why are people so in love with Fears? Pels fan really want a worse Kira Lewis Jr?
Had Flagg not been the dominant force (or in college this year), Kon would have been the best freshman in college basketball and likely be in the discussion with Dylan Harper for the top spot.

Right now he is not. But having gotten to spend some time with him first hand on the court and watching closely. He has a chance to be. Understands the game, has a motor, good hands and solid feet. This kid has three more years in high school and is not far away from his body being ready for college. Depends what type of work he puts in and the training around him.

That TE expires today so
Right. And deal posted (one of a plethora of options) does not require it.
I am against adding KD fwiw, just wanted to show how easy.
If you want to know how easy it is to do a trade for KD while not moving top 4 pieces (JV being #4)...
LINK
Took 30 seconds. Plenty of other options. Pels can absord 6+ mill into a TE as well in a secondary deal with one of these teams (say Nwaba from Hou to get them out of 2 year deal).
Easy.

Easy.
1) Jeremy Sochan (multiple better long wing options, kid is not guarding legit NBA 5s or spacing floor ever)
2) Jalen Duren (love his upside, likely not playable in playoffs with this team)
3) Johnny Davis (was high at one point on his fit but not sure how he plays off the ball and we have enough on the ball guys, does not profile as a true 6th man gunner enough to take)

re: Give me your top 3 that you want for Pels at 8 spot
Posted by Coach D on 5/30/22 at 12:57 pm to Epic Cajun
This issue with Sochan goes beyond the numbers with shooting... shot needs a ton of mechanical work. 2-3 years of it most likely. Not sure how he gets on court without being able to space the floor at all when you are already one of the worst shooting teams in the league.

Shocking to see how highly everyone here thinks of Sharpe.
Considering we know next to nothing about his game vs any decent level competition.
I guess that's the allure of mystery.
If you only watch college basketball and not these guys before they get to college then I would agree. Not many here may be as heavy into summer basketball as others but some of us are (and have to be).

1) Shaedon Sharpe - Best wing in draft, may not see it year 1 but love his game. Nothing he cannot do but there is busy potential which Pels may want to avoid but can afford to risk.
2) Dyson Daniels - Having a larger playmaker is important with the number of smaller guards we have. Different potential look.
3) Ben Mathurin / Ochai Agbaji - Higher floor role player guys in the mold of Cam Johnson pick PHX made a few years ago. Won't change dynamic but provide cheap depth at important position.
Trade back options: AJ Griffin (do not love guys who profile as good defenders but do not defend well, feel comfortable late lotto but not at 8), Jeremy Sochan (worried about jumper actually improving), Tari Eason (not sure what ROLE he plays, was not great without consistent touches), Mark Williams (if Hayes is on way out, Williams feels like the next 10+ year starting 5 man in the NBA)

I am not sold Duren is better than Mark Williams if you want a Center but neither should be top 10 in this draft.

Fountain likely profiles more as a 4 man and Coleman will likely play primarily the 5. When you look at it that way. Emphasis should be more on a scoring wing (yes, Miller) than anything. Would not be shocked if LSU left the 13th open.

IN THEORY:
Lance (to 3rd team)
Graham
Temp
Kira
Lakers 1st Rounder (after the draft so money counts towards trade)
... would work for Dame.
Hard to argue against Dame - CJ - BI - Zion - Val w/ Herb - Alvardo - TM3 - Marshall - Hayes + VETS signed (MLE, BAE) being title favorite.

Garrett Temple ... was never heralded while at LSU. Never loved, often blamed ... is still playing.
re: LSU Basketball Recruiting Thread - OLD THREAD PLEASE STICKY NEW ONE
Posted by Coach D on 3/31/22 at 3:26 pm to ForeverLSU5
This is simple... He wanted to keep guys who had been playing together on 2nd unit together. The guys you saw starting were mostly the 3rd string guys who stepped in to keep the planned rotation in tact. It is the same reason Minnesota called a TO at 6 min mark of the 1st Q during a 5-0 run in their favor. Coaches have a plan minute wise and 5 man unit wise that they want to see. That is what the pre-season is for.
