After the initial Ks, they stopped chasing his breaking balls. His bread and butter is those balls that drop out of the zone, and I imagine it is so hard to lay off of those. But they did it. They made him use the plate and took advantage.

They were everything that was advertised from a hitting standpoint. Tough 1-9 and very well coached on their plate approach.

I agree that they were very tough on Eyanson. They should have done more game planning for Cooper Williams because when the Tigers were hanging off the cliff, it was Cooper on top holding the rope to pull the team back up.

I big part of Eyanson's problem last night was constantly working behind in the count. That was very uncharacteristic for him.

Good assessment. Eyanson’s breaking ball is unhittable because it drops out of the strike zone. Arkansas will prep accordingly and force him to throw strikes. Regardless I think the heat affected his control; WV’s star pitcher was gassed. It’ll be a dogfight up in Omaha.

It was more Eyanson not locating and falling behind than WV really getting to him.

I think the heat and humidity eventually got to most of the pitchers this weekend.

Their HC Sabins is only 38 and makes 400K/year. He was at Okie State.
Someone is gonna scoop him up

Won't it be Anderson/Root game 1?

You don’t think Anderson is throwing game1?

One home run was a golf swing on a low fast ball. Good pitch. Just unlucky.

They were looking for the off speed pitch in the zone second/third time through the lineup and they were able to drive a few. When he started throwing the fastball more they were tied up or behind on it which got him out of the jamb in the 5th.

That is something he, yeskie, and Jay should make note of because that is how I expect everyone to approach him at the plate. Especially Arkansas who already faced him once.

He should have used FB to get ahead when we were up 6-0. He loves his off speed pitches though.

Eyanson was tough on Eyanson. He wasn’t pitching strikes like he usually does. Kept getting in 2-1,3-1 counts. The breaking ball was not landing for strikes.

It’s ok, we won when he didn’t have his best stuff. He’s human and was due for a game where he wasn’t as sharp.

Doyle wasn’t his best today either. It happens.

If he gets ahead of hitters, 0-1,0-2 then they aren’t laying off. They are striking out.

The thing about him, that was a below avg performance by his standards and still good enough to win.

well he’s not pitching game 1 against Arkansas, you’re being naive if you think it’s anybody other than Kade taking the bump.

Arkansas might not even see him in Omaha. Kade will be first up and if we get to the losers bracket Eyanson will likely start the second game. Only then would we face UA again, which will likely be Shores, etc.

Eyanson, if he doesn’t start game 1, will start the second game regardless.

That’s why his fastball turned into his strikeout pitch later in the appearance

That's what I said. If Kade goes G1, Anthony will start our G2 in the losers bracket. Only after winning that game we will see Ark again.
