I respect those that disagree, but wanted to express my appreciation for Curiel’s courage in demonstrating his faith commitment through his pregame prayer in left field, walk up song choice, etc

He’s a great example to all

What is his walk up song? I’ve heard it all year, just not familiar with it outside of it being his walk up song

There's plenty of good Christian songs out there. That Kanye song that he uses is not one of them

Regatdless of Derek Curiel spiritual faith he has become one of my favorites
In watching his post game comments sitting next to Josh Pearson ; acknowledging Josh as a mentor and leader was mighty impressive.
The fact he is so talented and mature is incredibly as a Freshman.

Why is that courageous?

“Courageous” is the second most overused word after “literally”. “Coward” is right behind “courageous”.

Why not? Serious question.

I had never heard the song and just read all the lyrics.

Adversity is the most overused word. It’s likes it’s scripted for so many athletes. Big Curiel fan here.

Doesn’t take courage to have a Christian walk up song that half of the stadium sings in a state that’s 74% Christian, sorry.

Happy for him and his faith. Even happier for his performance and contribution to the team.

It’s courageous because the original poster believes they share the same faith beliefs.
If Curiel was another faith (ie Wiccan, Buddhist, Hindu, Muslim, etc) and displayed some type of pregame ritual connected to his faith, I bet the OP would not see it as courageous. To him, it would be controversial.
I think displaying Christian belief in south Louisiana is not a display of courage. If he was displaying Muslim beliefs in south Louisiana….that would be courageous.
BTW- I’m a Christian myself. Not critical of Curiel or displaying your faith appropriately in public spaces. I just tire of implied messages from other Christians that everyone is against them when Christianity is the dominant religion in the U.S.
