New York Liberty owners sold shares in the WNBA team at a record valuation of $450 million for a women's pro sports franchise, according to multiple reports Thursday.
The capital raised from the sale, which represent a percentage share in the "mid-teens," is believed to be earmarked toward construction of a practice facility in Brooklyn, per the reports.

In March, the team announced plans to build a 75,000-square-foot practice facility for the Liberty, who won their first WNBA title last season. Plans call for the facility to include two full practice courts, a strength and training room, a recovery suite and some space to tend to players' personal needs. The facility is set to have a hair and makeup studio, as well as a suite for players in lieu of lockers.

I guess there’s a seat for every arse, but that’s a lot of money for empty seats.

As someone who can’t stand WNBA players, I’m loving this bubble.

when the golden goose of wnba gets hurt, leaves, or retires, the club will be worth a case of dildos and 11 tampons

.
To be fair, it's probably just another money laundering scheme for drug lords and three letters.

I am surprised every owner isn’t doing this. I’d GTFO this league in 1 second

It seems insane, but the gravy train might be so big that people would be willing to get on board.

Not sure why this is bolded.
Don't a lot of men's facilities have a barbershop?

The wisest selling of shares I have ever seen
There is so no way the league is going to become watchable in our lifetime outside of Clark

It’s already not worth anything.
The value in the WNBA is in the belief that the NBA will stand behind it.

Probably bought 1% for 4.5 million.

A percentage in the mid-teens was sold, so $58 million plus was raised.
It's no surprise, investing in sports teams is hot and the WNBA is a budget option.
Whether it's a good investment or not is another story but I'm not surprised that this kind of money is being raised.

Have a certain pony-tailed player retire from the WNBA tomorrow, saying the League is full of Alphabet- mafia thugs and you have better things to do.
Then do a revaluation of this WNBA team.
Then do a revaluation of this WNBA team.
