thought i would post this, its not an end all be all by any means, no claiming that but it is interesting for sure

The first trial of creatine in Alzheimer’s disease was just published and the results are big.
Patients took 20 grams of creatine monohydrate daily for 8 weeks.
Brain creatine levels rose 11%, and cognition significantly improved across multiple domains, including memory, reading, and attention.
Nearly every participant stuck with the protocol. No drug, no major side effects.
Caveat: it was a small, single-arm pilot study with no placebo group, so results must be interpreted cautiously.

I keep waiting around for a higher concentration powder to come out with all these higher dose studies coming out. 20g per scoop concentrate would be awesome.

How many g's y'all dosing and when?
I've been doing 5g in the morning and then 5g at lunch (around gym time) .

Single arm open label 8 week study is essentially worthless. Why didn’t they do a randomized, blinded, placebo controlled trial? Would have been almost as easy as this trial. But even with that you can’t make any claims about creatine and Alzheimer’s from an 8 week study given we know Alzheimer’s develops over decades and is an irreversible neurogenerative condition

i dunno, but i also addressed that. its just an interesting study that goes along with about half dozen others lately that point to mounting evidence that creatine is very important for brain health.

Your disclaimer wasn’t strong enough. Single arm non blinded small trials are not something worth discussing on a health and fitness board. They are at best hypothesis generators for more rigorous testing.

The post is salient, especially to this board that has no less than 3 new creatine threads a month asking basic information.
Despite your perceived inadequacies of the study, the results track with more critical and structured studies…so it informs the increased use of creatine for cognitive benefits.
Don’t be a biotch and take it for what it’s worth. Feel free to apply more scrutiny for your personal use, but don’t shite on the science because you’re uncomfortable with the conclusion.

It is not a perceived inadequacy, it is an inadequate study to form anything resembling an opinion from. There is so much bias inherent in the study design, which was likely intentional to favor a positive result. The problem with bringing this crap research here is laypeople cannot discriminate between a better designed, more reliable study and studies like this.
I would be very interested in a well-done blinded randomized controlled trial. Until then, I will choose to not believe everything I read.

I’ve been taking 10-15 and I’m as sharp as Biden. No, seriously, I can definitely tell that I’m cognitively more sharp.

bro...we have been discussing the new studies that have been coming out on creatine and brain health here alot....get over yourself
my disclaimer was fine, its in the first damn sentence...if you dont like my thread, dont read it
or if you have evidence that the study is completely wrong and its not possible creatine could help with brain health post it....otherwise quit being a little whiney arse about it. jesus

For those of you that have upped daily dosage, have you noticed a difference? I’ve been taking 5/day and occasionally will try 10/day when really active.
No difference felt but have never done 10 or greater for a week straight.

I went from 5 to 10 recently - zero difference in feeling, but creatine never made me feel a certain way anyway
