Atlanta's Black population has dropped to 46.9% in 2024, per U.S. Census data, down from over 60% in 2000, making it no longer a majority Black city. Gentrification, with rents rising from $799 in 2012 to $1,710 in 2022, has displaced many Black residents, especially in areas like the BeltLine. This brings economic growth and new businesses but also causes cultural loss and affordability issues. The video's block party reflects Atlanta's vibrant community amid these changes. Both sides—economic benefits and displacement concerns—are valid, highlighting the need for balanced urban policies.

The white population is still only 38%

Strange, isn't it, how 'economic growth' and 'culture' can't coexist...

There's nothing valid about that.
There's nothing valid about that.

So the displacement is not only coming from gentrification but the influx of Hispanic immigration?

Hank Johnson is worried that with all those new white folk in Atlanna, the city is gonna capsize.

You mean we're losing the culture of having a block party where someone sprays bullets into a crowd over some perceived disrespect? Instead, we get block parties where people don't get shot? Oh no.

I was in Atlanta last week and I’ll have to respectfully disagree.

Projects like the Beltline brought in new white residents.
And Hispanic growth is happening all over the south.

To be fair, a video from Virginia Highlands fest or whatever that thing was called isn’t a proper representation of Atlanta. That’s a bunch of 30-40 year old whites without kids who think spending $5,000 a month on a 3bd 2ba in a shite school district with masterbating bums everywhere is a good idea.

ATL and surrounding areas have a TON of Hispanics.
I have friends in Dalton, GA and it's like Little Central America. Great Mexican food. Another buddy in Marietta, GA and he says the neighborhood next to his has become all Hispanic.

Crime, ghettos and poverty is not cultural loss.

Please quit committing verbal atrocities on this forum by using the word “Hispanics”. These people are LatinX damnit.

Why would anyone buy that nice house, at the end, right across the street from the hood.

From what I saw the black population is down from 60 to 46, the white population is up from 31 to 38, Asian went up from roughly 2 to 4.5, mixed race went up from 1 to 3.5, and Hispanic went up from 4.5 to 6. So white definitely still had the largest increase.
