Just got back from Ireland. Locals recommend Redbreast 12. Good stuff.

Bushmills is good, & is the only one that I have had to drink. I prefer Bourbon whiskey…

"Every day" is Tullamore D.E.W. Special occasion is Bushmills Black Bush. Other than that, it's kind of like Scotch (and I guess bourbon) in that the kind of cask it is aged in can have a big impact on the flavor. I like stuff aged in Sherry casks for some reason. Tullamore D.E.W. XO is an easy to find example. The Black Bush is about $50 a bottle for .75l, the other two are less expensive than that.

My first trip to Dublin, i asked 3 different bartenders this question "what is the best medium priced irish whiskey?" All 3 said Green Spot/Yellow Spot becuase they are medium priced and better than almost all the expensive ones.

Redbreast and the Spots. There's also a Japanese Irish style whisky named Nikka Coffey that comes malted or grain style.

Coming from another bourbon fan who rarely ventures out, these.

I know it’s a bit commercial but Jamison Orange hits me just right over ice.

The best Irish Whiskey under $50(Aquistapaces)-- maybe be more at other stores.

Knappogue is great. The bourbon cask Jamesons are solid and a great value.

My favorites are redbreast 21 and Middleton Very Rare, these are however really pricey

Redbreast cask strength is propbably a better more affordable option, especially for someone used to the higher proof of bourbon

Not sure where you are located but if you make it into new orleans, Seven Three has a really good cask strength Irish Channel whiskey. It is an Irish/American blend (the irish portion is middleton). There normal Irish channel whiskey is good, but as a bourbon drinker I much prefer the punch of the barrel strength option

If you like a super smokey/peated type profile, Silkie has a couple options

If you are looking for a cheap shelfer option, Sexton is a good value
