Also curious how many think this national database will be a net positive for airport security to have little to no impact at all.

I have had mine for four years now. If you renew your license in Texas you get a Real ID. It’s no big deal.

I don’t really care one way or the other about real ID but I hate airport security. I think I’d rather five or six 9-11’s every year than deal
With the TSA.

Isn't it just a star on your driver's license that shows you provided some other form of documentation when renewing?

I don't have one yet. My passport doesn't expire for 2 more years so I'll show that at the airport.

Database?

What new database came out of this?

They know you have a license already.

My license was up for renewal last year, so I went ahead and got it. I didn't go out of my way to get it, and it was in the middle of my son getting his TIP/Permit/License, so I just made an extra appointment and got it done. I have a passport that's good until 2027, although I'm not 100% sure where it is.

I also don't think that having a Real ID is nearly as critical for roughly 50% of the population, but as usual, the media made such a big damn deal about it, so there's mass hysteria running up to the deadline. The fact that this has been 'in the works' for over 10 years is also a bit of a problem.

I’m pretty sure I’ve had one since like 2012. Unless you’ve just had an expired drivers license for years, I’m not it sure how you don’t have one at this point

I’m confused as to how people say minorities are too stupid to get an ID so we can’t have voter ID laws but no one is crying about them having to get real IDs.

I got it this week because I held out but now have a flight. Birth cert, homeowners insurance policy, SS card. No biggie. Just dont give them banking info, paystubs or anything like that. What they gonna do with home ins dec page or birth cert for that matter?

I’ve had one for a very long time and assumed just about everyone else did. I wouldn’t have guessed this would be such a big deal

When my DL came up for renewal, I got it.

However, it's just another way your government can track you.

I used my passport for 20 years to get on a plane.

I just had to get one for my flight this week. The great news is I had to pay $36 and have to renew again in November

no one is really confused by this. We all know why. Elections have to be easier to steal.
