Driving to Baton Rouge from the west side, for an appointment this morning and checked traffic so I would know which bridge to take…. The map showed the new bridge as RED, so I took the old bridge which was GREEN, but alas, here I sit (in park) on the top of the old bridge.

I just drove the same route an hour ago. Sailed thru like it was a holiday. Next time leave earlier.

This may come as a surprise, but traffic conditions can change in just minutes

The good thing about BR traffic is you arent able to drive at any appreciable speed so you notice less how shitty the roads are. Smart.

Nobody uses the old bridge anymore, it's always too crowded.

Complaining about BR traffic at 9 AM in a work day. Come on man.

If you have to cross town for work, the best thing you can do is plan your workday around it so if your work is flexible then get there early and leave early. Plain and simple. Even 30 mins would be big. Arrive at 730 and depart at 430. Traffic still won’t be gone but it’ll be lighter.

Ideally if you can arrive at 630 and leave at 330 or 230(skip lunch)

It's just a bridge, get over it.

As someone who travels from the west side to BR a lot.. You can't trust the current traffic map. Well, I say you can't trust it, its just that things change quicker than the map updates. I've been on the bridge a number of times when the map was showing it red and the traffic was flowing find.

The app Iberville Traffic has a camera that shows traffic near the intercoastal bridge (as well as the ferry sites). It gives you a more accurate look at traffic.

Should've gone north and taken the Audubon bridge through St. Francisville

Don't like the justification or people who do this. My company has meetings until 5 PM everyday. Then we have to work around Mr Selfish because he wants to get out early. You work the hours that everyone else works so you are not an impediment to others.

In about ten years, you’ll be able to drive south, go through Plaquemine, then cross the river. That will surely save you some time.

Apparently you aren't the CEO of an insurance company or else you would just a private jet to fly in.
