I think Poche had a better 2017 season than 2023 Floyd. Poche threw the first LSU no hitter his senior season since 1979

I see you’ve picked your hill to die on
But I think the one with the 2 1st round picks including #1 overall was better.

Your argument wasn't who is the better second pitcher. When you account for a 1-2 punch, Skenes heavily outweighs the tossup of Poche and Floyd.

I loved Poche as a Tiger but it was a 7 inning game. So that no-hitter comes with an asterisk.

Holman and Jump had a better combined statistical season than those two did

And if Poche was better than Floyd it wasn't by much. Floyd was just way more overshadowed by who our ace was that year but Floyd has 120 Ks that year. But yeah if you're arguing a 1-2 punch then the ace is a factor in the equation and Skenes is the best ace we've ever had and his Robin was no slouch.

2024 Holman and Jump
Holman 9-4 2.75 ERA 127 SO
Jump 6-2 3.47 ERA 101 SO
Holman 9-4 2.75 ERA 127 SO
Jump 6-2 3.47 ERA 101 SO

I don’t disagree with anything you said. Probably should have said outside of 2023 who was the best. I’m partial to 2017 because my son and I went to all of the post season games and Omaha. Those dudes were a fun follow.
When our plane landed in Omaha we drove downtown. We ere in a pizza joint across from the park. It was really crowded. Alex Lange’s mom was standing next to our table and heard her say she was starving g to death. My son offered her some of our pizza which she accepted. It was a cool trip that we won’t ever forget.

Holman and Jump.
Jay has had great Fri/Sat guys after that first year. Here's how I would rank them.
1. Skenes
2. Anderson
3. Holman
4. Eyanson
5. Jump
6. Floyd
Eyanson has a chance to jump up to no. 2 if he keeps producing like he has the last few weeks. He and Holman are interchangable imo.

Lange had a 2.97, not 3.97.
Combined ERA of our best 1-2 pitching duos the last few years:
Anderson/Eyanson: 6.57
Holman/Jump: 6.22
Skenes/Floyd: 6.04
Lange/Poche: 6.14

crazy thing is i thought last year's 1-2 punch was pretty damn solid, Holman and Jump.
they definitely got better and better as the year went on, but i know people soured on Jump bc of the UNC blown save

Yeah right now, Eyanson stats are actually better than Anderson's in a lot of categories (Anderson has pitched 2 more innings).
ERA: 2.91(Eyanson) vs 3.66 (Anderson)
Hits, runs, earned runs, b/avg, HR all favor Eyanson.
Anderson has 7 fewer walks, 8 more Ks, 4 fewer 2Bs, 6 fewer WP.
The biggest difference is the homers allowed. Eyanson has only allowed 3 all year vs 14 for Anderson.
