Professor at Stanford and he’s very pro plant based and was telling Huberman that your body can only use 70 grams of protein and the rest is converted to Glucose/carbs

I thought that was extreme. Huberman debated him since he’s a meat eater but the guy kept saying he’s right.

Is that true?

I could give it thought if he said 70 grams in a sitting before your body could absorb more after an hour or two, butn70 grams a day?

That ideas not worth the time of a casual Google search.

He said 70 a day. Said it’s no benefit at all to eat more than that.

I've heard something close to this number before. It was 100g per day from the dude that was talking about intermittent fasting with one meal a day.

I find it comical that people are quick to dismiss things like this.

His research is based on funding from “Beyond Meat”. I take what he says with a grain of salt.

Yeah I’m not deep into the podcast yet but like 20 minutes in he bragged about this study that showed beyond meat was better than red meat and it was funded by… you guessed it, Beyond Meat.

If nothing else I commend him for being upfront about where his funding comes from and actively trying to get the NIH to provide more funding.

He needs to show his work(research). Not listening to what people say, let's see the research behind it.

If you actually listened to the podcast, you'd realize it was the doctor behind the studies summarizing and debating the results with another scientist. The studies were linked in the show notes.

Not sure what was especially controversial here. He basically echoed the Blue Zone guy which was minimize meat and increase plant based sources. He also briefly touched on the importance of fermented foods and fiber.

It's this.

Theres plenty of reasons to increase plant food, but trading meat for it under the guise of it being a better source and you just don't need what meat provides just isn't one of them.

The plant based people will say or do anything to promote their lifestyle.

After dating (somebody else’s problem now) a woman that was a vegetarian for awhile I’m telling you it’s a cult. Sure they love vegetables but the aversion to meat is the true power, and they get fanatical about it.

His premise is insanity. Imagine thinking an athlete who is training and eating a nutritious diet day after day can only use 70 grams of protein in a day

Better yet, someone who is training like a madman and on test, tren, dbol, hGH, and insulin only being able to metabolize/anabolize 70 grams of protein a day

There’s nothing more healthy for an adult than a 10oz to 12oz portion of ribeye steak.

fiber

I love a salad and could eat one every day but I don’t because it’s worthless as far as nutrients and building muscle and energy.

Huberman absolutely eviscerated you today.

“I think by now everyone knows that fiber is super important. Anyone who disagrees with that, to me, should see a neurologist”

I don’t think you like anybody that you are not smart enough to understand. Huberman is about as uncontroversial as can be.

You stick to the guys with face tats that steal your money (multiple times), that that seems to be more your demo

Explain to me what I am missing out on by not ingesting 30 grams of fiber a day. How is this negatively impacting my cardiovascular and metabolic health? My ability to build and maintain muscle?

i dont care for huberman because he tends to not go by studies and makes stuff up at times, he isnt bad but he isnt the authority man others claim to be. Im perfectly capable of understanding him I also find his podcast boring most of the time and lacking on studies or meta analysis and i find him to be very influencer style at times. I didnt say he was dumb and never right on anything, just personal preference as I prefer those that give the back up behind why they feel that away down to the molecular processes happening.

the fact that you continue to attack and call me dumb while hiding behind a computer screen says a lot more about you than it does me.

oh god forbid i send PJ 50 bucks because a tree fell on his trailer so he could get a hotel room. it was once, not multiple times, SFP and i made him send us pictures with the date on a piece of paper showing the tree on the trailer.

look you can think whatever you want of me, but i promise sending nother poster 50 bucks so he didnt have to sleep in his car for the night doesnt make me a bad person, quite the opposite.

I like PJ about as much as i like you. But if you were in a bad spot...i would do the same for you. I would think you would be smart enough to not be in that position but PJ wasnt blessed with the same intellect ability as you or me. And this is before PJ went all peice of shite and faked cancer and all the other bullshite he has done the last five years.
