Saw antique tigers post and he had two basketball shoes he bought and the thought crossed my mind damn basketball shoes are ugly. Not just those but the style in general.
I guess if you’re actually playing basketball they are what they are, but as a fashion choice which is what they’ve become I don’t get it.

Killing fellow posters here is uglier than any basketball shoe.
If we are “being real” here.

So are baseball. Goofy arse, unathletic looking cleats.

The only shoes that are beautiful, well-designed, and appropriate to wear in all occasions are Crocs.

So many hours browsing Eastbay of old.

Generally? Absolutely. But the original suede toe low top Allen Iverson Questions were beautiful, and I will die on that hill.

You’re right man, your hiking boots that you wear to sit in an office and your clearance rack asics from academy or much more stylish

In the 80’s there were damn cool ones.

I’ve played basketball regularly all of my life but quit buying/wearing basketball shoes in about 1996. I just wear cross trainers and everyone asks how I don’t have sprained ankle issues.
I mostly stopped buying them because of the look (along with being a poor college student at the time).

I wear chartreuse Reebok Pumps from the 90’s with my suit at work.
People respect me.

Modern basketball shoes are crazy, back in the 90s they were significantly better but obviously the technology of shoes has changed a lot.

The 42 year old white guy wearing his Jordans that he calls "kicks", pretends to like rap and tries to convince himself on this board that those pigs with big asses are hot is the definition of a try hard.

36, wearing grey and white Jordan 1's right now, call them J's, dont listen to rap very often, and not sure about pigs with big asses

ETA: had 1's, 11's, and 13's as a kid so really more of a nostalgia thing. Only have two pairs now; 1's high and 1's low.

I've always found them uncomfortable and heavy. The hightops don't give any ankle support. You would think someone would be rocking some running shoes with ankle braces for how much they go up and down the court.

You just described Marty Smith.

Why Is everything low tops now and crazy colors
Posted on 5/5/25 at 9:54 am to VL Lsutiger
quote:Because we've figured out high tops don't actually help ankle stability. If you are prone to ankle rolls, low tops with decent ankle braces are far superior. If you're not, low tops are just as good as high tops, and weigh less.
