Consumer’s Reports least reliable pickup trucks: Toyota Tundra and Ram 1500

The new Toyota was worst in class from a reliability standpoint. Surprising since the Tundras made before 2022 were very reliable.
They also said the Ram 1500 was also really bad.
The GM and Ford trucks were better. Consumer Reports said to stay far away from the Powerboost (hybrid) F-150, but the rest of the Ford lineup was better. They really liked the diesel GM trucks too, but they said the GM trucks have the least comfortable seats.
Nothing on the Nissan Titan, but it is no longer being built (still some in inventory).

Introduce turbo engines and the reliability goes down. Thanks government mandates!

I feel like these types of reports just flip flop year in and year out so they’re always suspect to me

It’s not that, it’s the start/stop feature. Oil doesn’t run through the turbo when the engine is off, so it’s getting cooked.
If you compare the total number of starts & stops of a new age car to say, a 1980’s Mercedes turbo diesel, 70,000 miles on a new Volvo would be like 900,000 miles on the Merc.
Those cars were solid, but even those would have gone through a few turbos by then.

When you look at the CR data specifically the thing you learn is statistically P/U trucks have poor reliability compared to cars. When it comes to reliability, since Toyota is having their moment. is just picking the least crappy of the bunch.

Putting a turbo in a full size pickup will do that.

Why is chevy listed twice

The Hemi Ram and Coyote Ford were the best two options the past few years. One of those is gone.
Toyota peaked in 2006, unfortunately. I wish I still had my 2003 Tundra, or even better a 2006 double cab with full sized bed. I would drive that thing until I died.

It is the 3500 (on top) and the 2500. You have to click because there is not enough room. It is behind a paywall so I didn't bother with the link but here it is:
CR
That is the Ram 1500 page, just go down to the New Models Predicted Reliability chart and click under it where it says Show More Models Predicted Reliability to expand to all of them.

I have a 2006 Tundra Access Cab. Awesome truck and will run forever, but it struggles on hills with my travel trailer and all of my gear. If Toyota irons-out the problems of the 3rd Gen in the next 3 years, I'll buy one. If not, I'll find the lowest mileage 2021 that I can get my hands on.

You are going to want to look up the word pheasant.

Didn’t I read here just a week ago that GM put a hold or stop sale order on every V8 engine they have available from 21-25? Did CR just ignore that little factoid or did Chevy buy a shite ton of advertising from CR?

No large SUVs or pickups are worth buying right now, especially at their current price points.
Not one.
Get a 2020 or wait until they start reintroducing the V8s from the pre-CAFE change era.

Regret selling my first Tundra at 200,000 miles. Never had an issue.
Current one has 230,000 never had a problem. Keeping to 300,000.

fricking this. Why I won’t go near a new Tacoma or 4Runner.

The recall/stop sale does not include 2025 models. While the P/U being discussed in the OP's article are 2025 models it really doesn't matter since CR's predictions don't get updated on a weekly basis. The numbers are also heavily biased toward problems that have happened versus problems that may happen. While recalls are noted it is possible a recall is done early enough that a very small number of issues actually manifest themselves.
