Some of the reviews:

quote:

Characters blur together in a waking nightmare fueled by tribalism and toxic masculinity.

quote:

Cage gives another memorably unhinged performance in this surreal tale about a crisis of masculinity.

quote:

The Surfer may not be the most coherent critique of our unfortunate current social conditions, but it’s a primal scream which feels apt for the moment.

quote:

The Surfer is a strange, salty brew with exploitation vibes aimed at bullheaded toxic masculinity.

quote:

Everything about The Surfer's one-line pitch sounds ridiculous, but the film itself is a haunting set piece about localism, repressed memory, and toxic masculinity.

If you can't get enough of movies with The Message® then head to the theater this weekend for this one.

You dont find it odd that every single critic strolled out of the movie and typed the exact words "Toxic Masculinity"....

hmmmmmmm

im actually starting to think maybe 50% of movie critics online are just bots.

I predict this movie will be as successful at stamping out toxic masculinity as Leaving Las Vegas was at ending alcoholism.

Is there such a thing as toxic femininity?

Hollywood has gained an obsession of slurping puddles off of the ground.

We are huge Nic Cage fans. We have tickets for Saturday night.

I'll report back with my findings. I'm also a huge fan of reality and hate woke bs, so I won't let my Fandom get in the way of reporting the truth.

Without all the "toxic masculinity" nonsense, this movie actually looks somewhat entertaining.

I'd certainly give it a go if it comes out on a streaming service I subscribe to.

They are in one way or another.

Looks like a decent enough movie, surf territory conflict gone wild gone insane, but why describe it in terms of “toxic masculinity”? That could be any movie involving fighting or even just conflict.

The funnier thing is that you know this movie makes way more sense in Hawaii with their whole "kill howlie" culture but they would never highlight that.

I’m a going to like this movie because of the supposed “toxic masculinity” or hate it because it preaches to me about how bad masculinity is?

Except the RT score is from the critics, who only like masculinity if it's being shite on.

That is not the movie summary, that is the critic consensus

THIS is the movie summary

quote:

In the psychological thriller directed by Lorcan Finnegan, a man returns to the idyllic beach of his childhood to surf with his son. But his desire to hit the waves is thwarted by a group of locals whose mantra is "don't live here, don't surf here." Humiliated and angry, the man is drawn into a conflict that keeps rising in concert with the punishing heat of the summer and pushes him to his breaking point.

Its time we stop blaming the movie for what dumbass liberal critics say about it.

Yeah, it's like they want people not to go see it. When has advertising some woke angle for a movie ever led to increased ticket sales?

Because the propaganda is more important. If you just went and saw the movie, you might like some of the parts they're telling you are bad, so they have to tell you what to think before you even see it.
