A lot of chain stuff in that area. I don’t know how far you want to go. Lots of good things in Mt. Brook, Homewood and Bham proper. You could go into Bessemer and eat at the Bright Star or Bob Sykes BBQ.

Do not stay at the Hyatt on 280 near Inverness, they host a lot of youth sports teams, the chaos is over the top. The free buffet looks like an Animal House food fight. 2 elevators, one was out, the kids were playing in the other, had to walk to the 4th floor.

Cajun Cleaver usually has some sandwiches you can order. Check their social media. It’s pretty up to date.
Cajun Cleaver
Biscuit Belly in Hoover is a good
Breakfast spot
Flying Biscuit in Vestavia/Mountain Brook is good
Maple Street Biscuit Company
Slice Pizza & Brew in Vestavia

Last time we passed through we stopped at a hole in wall pizza place that made Chicago style deep dish pizza that was amazing. Tortugas Pizza.

Bob Sykes BBQ isn’t that good imo. I’d recommend melt, saws BBQ, Slice Pizza, Little Donkey, Martin’s BBQ and Waldo’s.

Jim N Nicks BBQ. I dream about those cheese biscuits.

Tortuga's Chicago style pizza is a must. Best pizza outside of Chicago.
Whiskey Foxtrot for dogs and burgers. It's beside Cajun Cleaver.
Silver Coin is the best Indian food in Bham.
Pollo Lucas is some South American chicken that is amazing.
Jake's Soul Food. Get the ox tails.
Archie's BBQ. Get the jumbo cheeseburger.
Mr P's or Diplomat deli for the local deli/sandwich experience.
Hoover is starved for a local fine dining experience. Maybe another poster has a local rec for that. Closest I can think of is BistroV in Vestavia.

2nd Silver Coin & Tortugas.
Vecchia Pizzeria & Moss Rock Tacos are straight up Preserve Parkway from the HMC.
Baha Burger is close to the hotel, as is Blue Pacific (Thai, takeout only, but damn good; order early)
Don't think you'd be mad if you went to Sandoval's Mexican.

I actually just went to Hoover over the weekend for the first time for a baseball tournament. I thought we were going to be visiting some podunk backwoods shithole, but to my surprise the town was very clean, safe and all of the buildings seemed brand new (or only a few years old) with tons of restaurant options. We ate great in Hoover!
Hoover seems like a very nice town to settle down in and raise a family. I was very impressed with the place

This is a common theme for most everyone that first-time visits Birmingham (Hoover, Homewood, Mtn Brook) etc…
I have been here 4 years from Nola and the amount of times people come here from wherever and say stuff like this is very high.
Had a work colleague stay in Homewood for a long weekend wedding and she was like “so this is how other people live???” She had never been to Bham area.

What's funny, is Hoover is largely seen as the "least nice" of the Bham suburbs compared to Mtn Brook, Vestavia, and Homewood
. Obviously it is all relative and Hoover is of course a wonderful area in its own right. It does always crack me up when I talk to people that come to Bham for the first time.
Lots of good recs in here. Throwing out a few others worth mentioning, I believe Uncle G's pizza has a physical store now in Hoover if a fan of detroit style pizza. Saw's has a Hoover location now for those recomending it.
Hole in the wall option, Blue Pacific for some really good Thai food.
Desi Tadka was a really solid Indian restaurant I've been to when i'm out that way, in addition to Silver Coin already mentioned.

I'm in Atlanta and if you picked up Hoover and placed it in Metro Atlanta, it would probably make top 10 suburb list

I’ve not been but Sticks & Stones I’ve seen and heard people review pretty well. Other than that, can’t really think of much that isn’t getting back across 459 towards the mountain.
