Guess manufacturing isn't coming back unless the next play is huge tax benefits to do so

The mixed messaging on the calculations was one thing but now a pause to negotiate everyone down to zero (which seems to be the real goal) does nothing for job creation in America.

A win is a win I guess but I am willing to admit the admin really bungled the messaging of stated goals.

What about replacing income tax with tariffs? Guess that is long forgotten if we get everyone and everything down to zero.

This was his plan from day 1. If you are too stupid to understand him that’s on you.

I think this is by far the 2nd lease likely outcome.

Fair trade and the "refi" options are the 2 most likely, IMHO.

The "Fair trade/Zero tariff" has the lowest benefits but the lowest risk/pain, so that's not shocking.

The "Refi" theory may have exploded and they're now pivoting in real time to adjust to the rates going the wrong way.

"bringing manufacturing back" seems very DOA.

Tariffs replacing the income tax is very DOA. *edited to include this, which is clearly the least likely now.

I am old enough to remember when the two stated goals was to bring jobs back and replace the income tax

The messaging is bundled because these tariffs are truly meant to do two things.

Get other nations to lower their own tariffs and VAT’s.

Check China, as they’ve been running rampant for decades and we’ve allowed it.

The American manufacturing thing truly is a goal, but this would be a long term fix rather than short term.

The good thing about the "plan" is that if you claim that it's meant to do everything simultaneously, you're always right. Even if your outcomes are contradictory. It's like betting red AND black on a roulette table. Guaranteed money, right?!

The 2 goals at the back of the pack, currently.

Why don’t we wait and see what concessions countries end up giving us before we tack it up as a win or loss

So the admin lied when they said they would replace the income tax? Trump brought it up multiple times.

There will still be an environment via tariff, tax, and regulation that specific manufacturing sectors will grow

If the only affects felt are positive for exporters then I hardly see that as a win

He is both bringing manufacturing back by implementing tariffs, and getting us a better deal by lowering the cost of manufacturing overseas through eliminating tariffs. Don't question it!

I think the idea is negotiating down tariffs and bringing back some manufacturing. Obviously we aren't bring back all manufacturing
