Simple question: Why do older generations rag on the younger when they created them?

“Participation trophies, no spanking, and staying on to my insurance! Why are my kids so spoiled??”
Even in the dumbest version of the Boomer world view, they still turn out to just be shitty parents.
ETA: I expect downvotes but no actual rebuttals. A generation will take all the fruits of their parents winning the largest war in world history, and then pretend they didn’t have it better at the front of the line.

Because of you. This is the dumbest take of boombashing I’ve seen. Every generation in history has chirped about the youngsters. My greatest generation dad did the same. As for participation trophies that’s accurate. Playing sports in the 60s/70s was certainly different than the last 30 years.

I only created my kids and they are awesome. Everyone else’s kids suck.

It's mostly from people who hate change in general and are set in their ways. There are others that recognize the previous generation as not having to live by the standards they had when they were young, but also recognize that each generation is unique with both improvements and regressions over the previous generation. They do not spend time complaining about it.
My parents would have never been able to handle the dynamic of parenthood/marriage today, so that is one topic I have one upped them on.

Haven't they found some Sanskrit scrolls with people complaing about kids that are over 2500 years old?

Simpler question: Why do younger generations rag on the older when they were created by them?
You owe your literal existence to them and all you do is bitch and complain. Just say “thanks”’and go live your life- even if it’s not as easy as you’d like it to be.

Certainly a dynamic to aspire to, right?

But there is some sanity to the OP. We made them soft thinking we were helping them. The competency crisis is very real.
Theyve been taught they are entitled to a cushy life and havent had to make real choices or sacrifices, like previous generations. We created that problem.

Most of the posters on here are cowards and incels without children of their own.

You’re forgetting that no one here has spoiled, derelict kids. Everyone on the OT has adult children that pick themselves up by the boot straps and know the value of a dollar (no Starbucks, no Netflix, no vacations outside of Destin).

Pretty much everything. We were free range, expected to manage ourselves and our time, and set up our won social groups.
Instead of parents doing the micromanaging, we were allowed to think, make mistakes and learn from them.
I was far more "helicopter" than my parents were though

You know god damned good and well that ALL older generations will take this as complete and total lack of respect and as an insult. Not boomers, not Gen X, not the Silent, not any of them, ALL of them.

Most generations do.
When I was a kid, we hated on the "hippies." I later found out that hippies werent that bad.

Because it's easier to complain about someone else's mistakes than to take ownership of your own.
The older generations and the younger generations have this problem.

We don't.
Every younger person I've hired or been associated with, I try, in some fashion to mentor them.
As in, "let me save you some time, so you don't do the same dumb shite I did...".
The smart ones do well and thrive at our company; we get rid of the lazy ones.
I wish I could say "lazy" always showed up in a particular age or color, but it doesn't.

Isn't that kind of the point of the OP. The people that were running around and playing playground sports in the 60s/70s, are part of the same generation that started the whole participation trophy era starting in the early 2000s (maybe late 90s). It's not like the 6-10 year olds told their parents they wouldn't play unless everyone received a trophy.

This and the angry dudes that shite on every personality trait of their ex wife crack me up. Like brother, you decided to date the chick, then marry her, and then bust guts several times. All you’re doing is shitting on yourself that you are a terrible judge of character.
I find it absolutely hilarious
