For those who have left the classroom, what career did you shift to?

The ones I know just sit at home. They are scarred from their awful experiences in the workplace.

I taught high school for a semester and coached for two years. I own multiple businesses

My wife taught kindergarten for ten years. She’s now a swim instructor.

I am a 37 YO male. Taught public schools for 12 years. Left Oxford for a collegiate coaching gig last and just finished year two. Will never go back to the public school ranks unless I am the athletic director. Rolled by PERS retirement into my IRA.

How many former teachers were the teacher's pet during their time in school? I have an interesting theory but it still needs time to be investigated and collect some information.

Safety/education Dept for a trucking company. Already had a cdl, easy to get a class A from a B. Started driving locally with them. It was an easy transition to my position now. Make more a week than I did a montth in school system.

Most teachers I know, myself included, were good students academically but were not what you would call "teacher's pets" or goody goodies. Considering the number of times I got whacked with a ruler by an angry nun, I don't think I was their pet.

I have a friend who did his 25 years as a coach/teacher while running a lawn service.

He now draws his state retirement but makes more money cutting grass than he ever did teaching.

He's one of those types that can never sit down though

You're not far off.

I know of at least three teachers who went into law enforcement. They see former students all of the time. It is usually "yep, I knew that one would end up in jail."

Gonna need pics of her in her current rôle for “contextual purposes”.

TIA (hopefully)
