Has anyone ever tried to do these tests without any alcohol? We tried to do the heel to toe, the finger on the nose tip, and lifting of your leg while looking at the sky. No one could do these tests without fricking up. How are these things still a part of any test?

No one has ever passed those tests and had the cop say have a safe drive home. They're designed for you to fail and if it gets to that point you're going to jail. He's just getting more evidence on tape. Never speak a word other than lawyer and don't submit to anything. You're already boned the second he walks up to the window.

You can’t perform those actions sober? Are you physically and mentally handicapped?

They are not scientific tests, they are carnival tricks.

Yep, I was pulled over for going 7mph over in Austin one night....passed the tests with flying colors and the officer was getting more agitated with each test. I ended up blowing a 0.084 and getting arrested because this guy was such an a-hole. This guy kept saying he was the DUI closer for APD, they bring him to suspected DUI stops to make sure it's done by the book blah blah blah. He told me numerous times that he has made over 1400 DUI arrests.

After the DA reviewed the body cam footage and my blood test came back under the legal limit they dropped the charges but it was still an ordeal.

Always demand a blood draw alcohol level if they suspect you to be drunk

Here’s a bit of advice.

If a cop asks you to perform these “tests” he or she has already decided you are going to jail.

The “tests” are just to they have evidence against you in court.

That is such bullshite and they get away with it non-stop. They are fishing for money because if you would have been Pedro from south of the border and "No hablo englis" they would have kicked you down the street.

I know, I have seen it happen.

Do you have a handicap of some sort that affects your balance? Geez.

Also... if only there were some way to prevent having to take these test. Just can't quite put my finger on it, though. Hmmm...

I can’t do the alphabet backwards without writing it on a piece of paper. Unlike counting down backwards with numbers we never did alphabet backwards or read it going right to left. I could possibly get it going 3 or 4 at a time after saying alphabet each time in my head up to last letter I stopped at, but even trying trying to start at Z, Y, X just seems foreign to me over X,Y, Z.

The horizontal gaze nystagmus eye test is what you can’t pass if you have been drinking.

I have tried those tests just for fun and failed miserably. I think they are designed to get to the blow test at a high rate.

About 80% accurate if the cop is honest. You get a bad cop with a hard on you are done as there is no proof you failed or passed it. Seen that bullshite also on someone who didn't drink and never drank.

Cop knew he was fricked so cut him loose finally.

Back in the day we had a friend who was a cop. When we were hanging out and drinking we'd get him to give us field sobriety tests for "practice".

I run a private training academy to train for these tests. We do them dry and we get fricked up and practice them. You’ll never fail another again.

This is not an actual business but after tying it out maybe there is a market for this service

How many of you have been asked to do these tests and you refused? What was the outcome?
