While gastrointestinal issues are the most common side effects, a recent study by the University of British Columbia linked GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) agonists — the class of drugs that includes semaglutides — to an increased risk of hair loss.

The researchers analyzed data from 16 million patients from a health claims database, narrowing it down to 1,926 semaglutide users and 1,348 users of bupropion-naltrexone, another type of weight-loss medication.

After adjusting for other factors, they found that the semaglutide users were overall 50% more likely to experience hair loss compared to the other group.

Y’all Ozlimpdicks still slurping semiglutides ‘cause you’re too lazy to lift a damn finger? New study says that junk’s making your hair fall out faster than your testosterone levels. Guess that explains the limp-dick epidemic in your little crew. Keep injecting yourself with poison while real men stay thick-haired and hard.

Life would just be a little more simple if I were bald. This isn't the deterrent that keeps me from doing Ozempic.

I love these threads. OT hates fatties. OT hates people taking a drug that makes them not fat. OT becomes confused and ends up fighting itself over the issue.

When you run out of people to look down upon, you start noticing all the people you should look up to. No one wants that hell.

Yeah that's definitely what caused my hair loss, and not genetics. I make enough that I could probably get hair transplants or some shite, but whatever I know enough people that didn't live long enough to get bald so I take my blessings where I can find them.

Huberman had a peptide doctor on a couple months ago and he said 90% of doctors prescribing these have no idea what the hell they are doing.

He said they just immediately go to the standard dosage while he starts his patients on the very lowest dosage and then raises them every two weeks to prevent any side effects. That’s how you avoid all the gastrointestinal stuff because your body has to get used to it.

I don’t need them and I don’t agree with putting a Band-Aid over a bigger problem, but I know for some people it can really help jumpstart them and it is starting to show more neurological benefits. There are 12 drugs pending FDA approval so they are not going anywhere.

Johnson and Johnson’s pill form should be approved later this year

It blows my mind how many people are on this stuff instead of trying to eat better and exercise. Its hard work, but you're not filling your body with a synthetic chemical with awful side effects. I don't get it.

sigh

here is the pre-print: LINK

the study showed that this 1) mostly affects women and 2) is temporary and self corrects once the body adjusts

this is absolutely nothing

They’ve spent decades convincing themselves that there’s something wrong with their bodies and that traditional diets don’t work for them rather than accepting the fact that they were not able to muster the self control to adhere to them.

Changing a metabolic pathway altered another metabolic pathway? I'm SHOCKED.

From the full text of the study itself:

quote:

Although not fully elucidated, it is postulated that hair loss secondary to semaglutide might be due to the physiological stress that rapid weight loss can induce, causing telogen effluvium and leading to increased hair shedding5. This may be more prominent with semaglutide as it is known to decrease weight more rapidly than bupropion-naltrexone, thus inducing greater physiological stress on the body and thus potentially greater hair loss6.

It's also worth noting that anytime you heavily restrict fats in your diet, it will cause you to also shed hair. It's why women who did Slim Fast shakes for more than one meal replacement had similar effects. Not getting enough fat in the diet.

They just need to bring back the old Stacker 2 formula and be done with it.

I was literally losing 2-3 lbs a day part timing at UPS in college. Until I could lose not much more. Everyone was taking a few and our crew could do the work of one double our number.

Would go home after working a shift at UPS and run a half mile to try to get the jitters calmed so I could get some sleep for class.

Yea.. get greedy and your heart would have exploded… but don’t get greedy.
