It is for specific and limited circumstances.

If they have a vote by proxy, it sets a terrible precedent. They need to challenge the constitutionality of this immediately.

This. Once you allow it for one thing it’s easy to add the next and the next until everyone’s voting by proxy because it’s a cloudy day.

I understand the concept of the slippery slope. It's a rule, that can be changed (pro or against).

Trump trying to fire employees for remote working. And republicans in congress trying to do the opposite. I’m sure that wouldn’t be abused.

I guess those lazy muther frickers are going to work from home now.

Davy Crockett had to travel by horseback for days to vote and did so gladly. This is bad, really bad idea. Thomas Jefferson said America’s political leaders should not draw income, he was truly against this

Show us where the Constitution addresses voting processes in the houses of Congress.
Article I, Section 5:

And people on the poli board are wondering why legislation hasn’t passed ! This is an example when you have such a slim majority just clearing simple procedural hurdles is hard .
To the Republican break aways; shame on them for stopping the people work for their gain. They knew exactly what they signed up for when they ran for congress.
Hopeful Mike and party can get them back in line or I fully support reprisal.

Fair point.
The other fair points are slippery slope as well as admin47 advocating for being AT work and ending special favor scenarios across the whole of government.

No more votes for the week?
No urgency to try and stop the judicial coup?

This is not the first time proxy voting has been allowed. It has been allowed and revoked before. Based on history, this isn't something that has continually been exploited further in one direction.
