None of this is mcmahon’s fault. If LSU wanted to hire you next year and make you financially stable for life you wouldn’t say no.

McMahon isn’t just going to pack it up and quit if he is still getting a check.

This is 100% the fault of the AD for not finding the right guy and giving him a terrible contract.

Will Wade won me over in 2 minutes of his introductory press conference where he insisted it be at the Student Union at LSU.

Fast forward 22 months and we won the SEC.

Don’t worry , with increased NIL budget McMahon can now sign two 5’11 point guards from a mid major who can not handle it in the SEC , instead of one.

I went back and read it. My thought then was the press conference was very low energy, but ultimately, he would be judged on his performance in the games.

Fast forward almost 3 years to the date and the program has been the worst in the SEC (cumulatively) during that time and the energy has never improved. In fact, it's at a decade long low. People often compare McMahon to Jones. I don't think that is fair. Jones, while not a big personality, did still have some genuine energy in being the coach at LSU. While he underachieved with some talented teams, he was never awful until his final season when everyone knew it was a lame duck year following the Simmons failure.

McMahon has been more like Trent Johnson, IMO. Only without the one great season. Johnson always seemed like a disinterested outsider. He wasn't going to do a ton to energize support. Instead, he was going to let his results do the talking. Initially they did. Then they cratered. I remember being in the PMAC during the 2010 and 2011 seasons. It was awful with no energy and no sense of hope. That's EXACTLY what it felt like this season.

The flaw in his logic is that every team in the bottom half of the league believes it will execute the same plan MM is describing.

Someone has to lose.
