[quote]Proposed state law targets slow left lane drivers in effort to curb road rage, traffic
March 25, 2025 10:57 PM in News Source: WBRZ By: Angelica Butine Share:
Louisiana lawmakers are considering a new law that could crack down on slow drivers in the left lane. Although there is already a law in place, one state senator wants to make it stricter to make enforcement easier.
State Senator Jay Luneau, who represents a large district from Central to North Louisiana, has experienced frustration with drivers blocking traffic in the left lane.
"I have experienced it myself quite a bit. I see a lot of drivers in the left-hand lane when they don’t need to be—they’re just traveling in there and they don’t get back over to the right lane," Luneau said.
Luneau told WBRZ that drivers who coast in the left lane cause more than just frustration. He said it also creates safety concerns.
“The other thing that we sometimes see is a person will be driving in the left lane and they’ll be getting somewhat closer to overtaking the vehicle, and someone tries to pass them, and they speed up and cut them off,” he said.
Sen. Luneau hopes the bill will reduce road rage and improve safety.

This guy is a retard. The truck nuts dodge Ram 2500 crowd that speed, pass on the right and cut in with 3 feet of clearance are the problem
We already have a law for this

wants to change it to prohibit driving under the speed limit at all in the left lane.
It’s impossible to comply with his proposed law for his truck nut buddies

Anything to fix it. Got to pull over and write tickets, collect that revenue.

When I come to power the cops will just be in a helicopter with a magnet
You holding up my traffic you get picked up and brought back to your point of origin to try again and not be a nuisance on society
Get it right or start over

Let's find an organization that will enforce the laws already on the books like speeding, littering and murder.

It’s the passing lane. Pass someone and get over. Your fast and my fast may be a lot different

Is there an implied right to have the left lane clear for speeding here?

South Carolina law says that slower traffic must keep right. Its about as stupid as saying "if you ain't speeding stay the frick off the road". What is slower traffic ---If I want to run 120 MPH and everyone else is doing 85 who is breaking the law???? The law has not helped in SC...all it has allowed is for the state to ambiguously stop some people and ignore others doing the exact same thing....

Its surprisingly simple...and is the law every nation with freeways that I have driven in except the US...if you ain't passing someone you are only allowed in the right lane. Its also generally illegal to pass on the right....

I’m good with this
Too many people go along in their days with zero urgency. They casually do everything like they really don’t have to be anywhere or have any time constraints. A crap ton of people have zero efficiency skills anymore.
The driving in the left lane and having zero situational awareness is BS and does need easier punishment

The proposed law would increase the fine from $100 to $150 on the first offense, $250 on the second offense, and $350 on the third offense. Multiple offenses could result in 30 days in jail.
F*ck that. I want 10 years in Angola with hard labor without the possibility of parole for first offense. F*ck these reprobates.
