Casan Evans should have been the first reliever for Eyanson on Saturday

Play to win the series and don’t try to save your best relievers for game 3. Especially against a top 10 team on their field.

He wasn't saving him for game 3. He was saving him for the point in the game where he was able to get us to the end of the game.

Except Evans showed today that he could go longer. Too bad it was in a game where we were already too far behind.

I hope Jay adjusts

Another point is that Eyanson has shown he gets better as the game goes on (see Nebraska). Jay shouldn’t have pulled him there against TX

Jay has shown he will adjust throughout the season. I think this weekend will be a good thing to get the snape of the team where we need to be.

So why didn’t he throw him in the 7th inning when we had a 1 run lead?

Spitballing here but it seems to me he was thinking he could win game 2 without those guys and was thinking sweep. I bet he doesn’t do that again and makes sure he gets the series win if possible in game 2.

Just a guess, but I think it’s likely that he thought he could string together a few matchup guys to bridge to the 9th inning and have Evans available to close both games.

I don't think he should have come in 1st but I do think in the 7th at 7-6 with what was left at that point would have been wise.

We need one of those 2 S day starters to step up and be really good and go 6-7. I think it’s Eyanson.

Shores can too but he’s hitting too many bats right now. Also too many walk.

Jay is not a good manager of pitchers.

Well he certainly put on a managing clinic of pitchers in Omaha, and spare me the Paul Skenes BS. LSU won a series Championship without throwing Skenes once.

Riley Cooper should have been the MVP of the CWS.

He pitched 3+ innings. That wouldn't have taken them to the end of the game on Saturday.

In hindsight, he should have. It would have been our best chance to win a 2nd game.

We're not gonna win shite in June if we don't have relievers that can bridge to Evans. It's March. It's perfectly acceptable to let Ware and Schmidt pitch there. Those are two guys who will need to be counted on if this team is going to reach Omaha. This is about a team trying to find its ceiling, not winning games in March

You don't think Evans could have held off Texas after the 6th inning with LSU up by one, 6-5 and 9 innings left? IMO Evans was much more valuable in that situation than Sunday. He may not have been able to put up three innings of zeros in that situation but at least you give your team a fighting chance. His arm was a lot less valuable Sunday than it could have been Saturday, IMO.

Exactly
His use of Evans this weekend probably cost us the series.

I agree that Evans should have been used Saturday but hindsight is 20/20 on when. My biggest issue on Saturday was going to Schmidt in such a huge game. It should have been Ware then Benge. After Benge, then Evans.

This entire season will depend on the development of Ware and Benge, and getting Guidry back healthy. We absolutely need Ware and Benge to get their crap together quickly, Ware more-so than Benge because Benge didn’t look so bad Saturday. He would’ve minimized the damage that Schmidt created, which was no fault of Schmidt because he’s just not ready.

Jay Johnson needs to force feed Ware until he gets his issues worked on. Whether that is on midweek games or Sundays, he’s got to get him to throwing strikes.

Eyanson should've finished the inning and possibly went 1 more. Flip side, Shores stayed 1-2 innings too long. I think JJ knows all this and will adjust.

You're treating an SEC weekend like a playoff matchup.

He can't simply burn Cowan and Evans everytime we have a lead and pull a starter.
