You’d figure coach would let him back on team just for the optics. LSU grad, perseverance through adversity, etc.

I mean maybe Kelly wants him to have a chance to play a lot and perhaps he doesn't feel like he will get that opportunity at LSU.

Do you think he’s saying “he wants too much money” or “he wants too many carries?”

At this stage for Emery, his only (NFL) chance is going somewhere that gives him the ball enough times to prove he can still produce ,show flashes of “it” factor, make it thru a season with two working knees

It’s been 6 years. I don’t see how you can put him out there again. He obviously wants to okay, but there is zero way he will be SEC level. It sucks, but injuries suck

I wonder if that’s the fulldirect quote. It’s possible he m3ant to say c”we are set ar the RB position, either way”?

I went back and listened to it. It definitely seems as though he’s saying that Emery will be playing elsewhere, if he plays. That said, he also said that they hadn’t spoken to Emery about it and the announcement was the first he had hea4d of the news.

I would imagine they both want to maximize his carries, which will not happen at LSU.

Wishing John nothing but the best unless he plays against LSU.

I think it’s not really a matter of letting him back on the team. Could he come back and be “on the team”? Probably.

But I think Kelly is saying there aren’t any carries for him. Certainly not enough carries to showcase him at any rate. They are going to focus on Caden and Berry.

Having a third string 6th year back doesn’t really help the team much because he’d be taking practice reps from someone else.

It’s unfortunate how it worked out, but for his own good I think he needs to move on to greener pastures.

we’re set at the running back position.

He looked like the best one before he got hurt & we didn’t run the ball particularly well after he got hurt.
TF is Kelly talking about?

Hey cant stay healthy because of his running style. Know any serious college backs or NFL guys that jump in to the air then make a hard cut the instant they hit the ground? no you dont.

Hope John gets a payday wont be here.

Aren’t our only RBs Durham, Jackson and Harlem Berry right now? Feel like you could definitely have more.

Spring portal LSU will take a vet RB (that can pass block)

Fair point, but in addition to the feel-good story, there is a leadership thing to consider

Yes, we know.

He put out a press release a few days ago saying he was looking for his next team.

Theres only so many available scholarships, if there's not a scholarship available, then emery may not want to pay his way to play

Kelly goes on to say that they have not talked to Emery. They found out like everyone else that he was awarded a 7th year and that Emery can be a productive player for someone else in the power 4.

Maybe Tulane or Southeastern so he can actually contribute

I don't think we're set at RB at all. You can't count on Holly, so we're one injury away from relying on Kaleb Jackson and 2 true freshmen.
If Emery wanted money then I get it, he's prob not worth paying up for. But idk why you wouldn't give him his spot back. Kelly also sounds like kind of a dick with this
