Arthur Bates Obituary
Bates, Arthur Nixon IV
March 5, 2025 Nick succumbed to a life of drugs, Marlboros, fast women, and Ford Broncos. He is survived by three daughters, none of whom know how they will get by without dad calling to ask for $20 for cigarettes and methadone, one last time.

Baw lived in a trailer, 50 miles from the funeral home. Am I going to hell for laughing because he lived behind Dinosaur World?

Man, you gotta be a real POS to get that obit. I hope I don't piss my kids off bad enough to roast me in my obituary. Damn.

Looks like the picture they used is a mug shot.

Accidentally downvoted you while scrolling…should have been an upvote. Sorry

It's definitely a department of corrections photo. Dude did a year for giving false info to a pawnshop, under $300. Same exact picture pops up for him.

This is Nick in his younger years. One of the comments stated he still owed them $20, another just said “legend.”

I doubt that was the only picture, that was the picture used by a resentful daughter against a dad who was apparently never really deserving of that title.

Obligatory greatest obituary of all time:
James Loveless
That was one of the funniest things I have read. About as good as the video of the guy who sells used trailers in Cullman Al.

This is an oldie-but-goodie:

I always pass Dinosaur World passing through Lakeland.
Always wanted to stop. But never have the time.

I have never been, but my wife has had to take my daughters to several field trips there. The kids like all the dinosaur statutes. The parents hate the heat and mosquitos.

Not to pile on, but . . .

“Leslie Ray ‘Popeye’ Charping was born in Galveston on November 20, 1942 and passed away January 30, 2017, which was 29 years longer than expected and much longer than he deserved.”
“At a young age, Leslie quickly became a model example of bad parenting combined with mental illness and a complete commitment to drinking, drugs, womanizing and being generally offensive. Leslie enlisted to serve in the Navy, but not so much in a brave & patriotic way but more as part of a plea deal to escape sentencing on criminal charges.”
“Leslie’s hobbies included being abusive to his family, expediting trips to heaven for the beloved family pets and fishing, which he was less skilled with than the previously mentioned. Leslie’s life served no other obvious purpose, he did not contribute to society or serve his community and he possessed no redeeming qualities besides quick witted sarcasm which was amusing during his sober days.”
“With Leslie’s passing he will be missed only for what he never did; being a loving husband, father and good friend.”
”Leslie’s passing proves that evil does in fact die and hopefully marks a time of healing and safety for all.”
