Choice or Select. Which name supermarket chain in Louisiana has the best steak for the money?

Chairman’s Reserve at Rouses is pretty solid.

Used to be Roberts in BR; not sure now that Mathernes bought it back.

Calandros but you'll pay a premium.

Select or Choice, you're probably good going to Albertsons.

I've been disappointed in a couple of these TBH.

Plain old USDA Choice Angus from Walmarks is usually pretty good.

Probably Fresh Market for consistency.

I agree with Robert's, but now that they are gone in BR, Fresh Market has always been better than most. Alot of their beef in grass feed, but the choice steaks are good.

Fresh Market

Usually go with prime but sometimes their choice steaks look better

Prime

I try to cut back on red meat so if I can’t get prime, I would rather eat something else.

Dorignac’s and Langenstien’s are my favorites.

Just find a butcher and tell them what you want. The best way to get value is to get an entire tenderloin or loin from a place like Sam's and slice it yourself.

Fresh Market has some cut on sale every weekend and they are usually really solid. Sign up for the free rewards program or you don't get the sale price.

Choice or Select

Been a long time since i bought a select grade steak. I prefer Prime (iusually Costco). Occasionally I'll see a good looking choice at Kroger.

If it is select or poorly marbled choice, I'd rather have a hamburger or pork chop for much cheaper.

They are (along with all of their other meat). Sam's does not blade tenderize.

I find it's day to day. Publix here has better ones sometimes, Kroger's are better sometimes. Always gotta check out the specific pieces they have to know. I've splurged and gone to a butcher market place to get something better, and it isn't necessarily better in the end.

I might make fajitas or tacos out of select but I'm not grilling that.

The only select grade cut of beef that I have seen that looked decent is a chuck roast. The marbling just isn’t there most times.
