They should just cut his pay and let the other guys who step in do it, they are better at getting to the point of what it's happening and they also tend to be guys with all the random knowledge for good stories and misremembering things so the other guy can correct them. Also just let Bill give us random history.

Can't stand him? What's the issue? I think he's doing just fine at calling the games.

You'll get downvotes, but you aren't wrong. I like him and his voice. However, I find his baseball hard to listen to.

I definitely miss the days of Jim whining and not describing the play accurately.

I think he’s good for most games but somewhat lacking in the big moments. His call on Tommy’s walk off against WF was rough.

I'm the opposite. He's sounds like and has the enthusiasm of a baseball play-by-play guy. I'd much rather someone else for football.

I miss Jim never giving the score for 4 innings.

He would be a great MLB radio guy. I don’t like him calling LSU baseball.

I think he’s better at baseball than football by far.

Jim Hawthrone "hits it deep to right field, it's way back and caught, routine flyball for the rightfielder."

Baseball is by far his best sport. Football isn't great, but basketball is baaaad

I admittedly haven't listened to his radio calls in a long time but I can remember his calls lacking emotion and being very late...you hear the ping of the bat and after a double play has already been turned he would then tell you the call. When he does express emotion it seems fake/forced.

I dont get the people who like Hawthorne. He would hype up nearly everything beyond what it was way too often.

I personally think baseball is the best sport he calls. Growing up with Hawthorne, no one will ever be him. But i don't think Blair is bad

Not that this means he’s great but I actually think baseball is his best sport. Can’t listen to him in football

I think people like Hawthorne because he called so many LSU great moments. Blue Grass Miracle, Warren Morris Walk off, etc. But even those have flaws.

Throws it as far as he can, caught caught JACK HUNT!

edit: I enjoyed Hawthorne on the radio, he just had many flaws. But you can't beat his passion for LSU.
