Wofford and Furman’s mens teams are playing now for a shot at the big dance. I haven’t seen this done in a real game. Kyler Filewich is their 250 lb center that uses this technique.

He just shot another. He’s 1-3 at the line.

So, you’re not old enough to remember Rick Barry, who was one of the top free throw shooters in the NBA.

I always criticized Shaq for being unwilling to do so. His % likely would have gone way up if he had, cementing him as the GOAT. Instead, his refusal to improve that part of the game is a major mark against him.

I think he shot just over 50% for his career. The estimated average for the entire NBA over the years is mid-70s. If he could have just gotten to 65 or 70%. But no.

What year is it? There have been a handful over the last 25 years doing this.

And more recently, his son Canyon was doing this at UF deep into the 2017 NCAA tournament.

No not old enough but knew he did. They said Rick actually came to Wofford to work with him on the shot.

A fierce little local rivalry. Why we didn’t hire either of their coaches a few years back is beyond me.

I think most college players could shoot better than 37 percent blindfolded.

Rick Barry shot that way in the NBA. 89.3% all-time, top 10 in the combined NBA/ABA, 4th in the NBA only, 1st all-time ABA.

Can’t really call what Barry did granny style. But he was money at the line.

They just said he’s never made multiple free throws in a game? Or maybe consecutive free throws?

Yeah this was the perfect situation for Asheville. Two schools 30 minutes away from each other that are 1 hr from Asheville. Neither one expected to make the NCAA Tournament.
