Seems a little harsh coming off a F4 run, but probably the right decision. Last year was clearly an aberration.

I think anyone who understands college basketball can put that Final 4 run in the proper context. It was fun but doesn’t tell you much about him big picture wise. I wonder if they had done this last year had they not won the ACC tourney
I’d imagine Will Wade is on that shortlist

Yeah a buzzer beater to force OT from being fired last year and they stunk up the floor this year.

When NC State lost to Pitt to make their record 17-14 at the end of the regular season last year, I think there was a greater than 50/50 chance Keats was getting fired last year.
Of course they had that insane run to the Final 4 right afterwards, but beforehand, they had one good season out of their last 4.
I figured he had one more year, but this isn’t egregious.

LSU fired John Brady 1.5 years after a final four run in 2006. A good portion of the final four team returned in 2007 and they ranked while Big Baby was trying to show pro scouts he had shooting range from the outside. Then the 2008 season was so bad Brady was fired before the year ended.

NC State was pretty awful for the majority of Keatts tenure. He also made terrible excuses and complained when they got blown out.
