Matchbox cars had more durable paint than Hotwheels way back in the 70s.

Hot Wheels in the 70's > Hot Wheels any other decade

Even if they have been losing details those little cars hold up. Best $1 toy on the market still.

True. My youngest goes to get groceries with me most weekends. We go to a Walmart neighborhood market and he asks for a toy sometimes. He’s got a little collection of the Hot Wheels and we have one of the tracks. He’s 6 and loves it. And they’re less than $1.50.

I just recently gave all my old hot wheels and micro machines to my son (5) and he fricking LOVES them. He actually literally just sat down ten seconds ago with them to play.

The 70s Hot Wheels Ford Pintos would burst into flames if you hit it in the rear.

If my son liked hot wheels instead of legos I would probably be retired by now

I was a matchbox kid anyway.

Hot Wheels and Bic pens. Two things from my childhood that I was pretty sure people never actually bought, but they just spawned in your parents’ junk drawer.

The best hot wheel I ever received was a 1967( I think) was a green Volkswagen but with the sliding plastic roof. My uncle gave it to me when I was 6 from his collection. I still have it.

i had a box full of hotwheels at my home in lapalce. When I moved to florida before kids, i left them there. Found the box and my mother in law drove them from nola to ft lauderdale for us. It is fun playing with the same cars with my 3 year old and getting the new ones every now and then

That’s actually what the undersides of most modern cars look like now, but I’m sure the hot wheels are cheaper to make that way.

My 3 year old is in a Monster Jam phase and has probably 10 of the Hot Wheels Monster Jam trucks.
There is a YouTube channel that he loves where they race them, and I've found myself watching the races even after he has lost interest.

That’s neat. I used to watch nascar stop motion races. Some of those YouTubers went all out creating tracks, collecting all the cars, and performing realistic crashes with smoke (cottonballs)
