South Houston 4 days at the end of May

My wife and I will be traveling from SE Louisiana to the Houston area for 4 days at the end of May for a concert in Sugarland. We will also want to go to NASA and the Museum District as well. The Astros will be in town, so it would be fun to go to a game there as well.
Where does it make sense to get a hotel?
I610 south of the Museum District?
Down by the South Houston Tollway?
Other?
I know it is going to be a bit of driving regardless of where we stay.

Do not stay in Sugarland. Everything else you listed is somewhere else. Just eat the Uber from inside 610 (Galleria, Museum District, near Minute Maid) to Sugarland for the concert. I'm assuming it's at Smart Financial; there's not much going on down there, and certainly nothing walkable. Be aware that Smart usually has a no bags policy, don't let the wife be one of those people shoving her purse in the bushes. You have the shopping area, but unless you're into touring cricket fields, there's not a real purpose to going to Sugarland that you can't accomplish closer into town.

Thanks
It is at Smart Financial. We will have our car with us, so we can drive from hotel to Smart Financial and from the hotel to NASA.
Smart Financial has a clear bag policy. My wife bought a nice smaller clear bag just for this type of events.

The areas near BW8 are not great, at least on the SW side. There isn't much redeeming in the area. Overall, the south of I-10 down to Hobby/Stafford, it's kind of shitty (not ghetto, just shitty.)
If you're looking to treat her, try the Marriott Marquis (it's the one with the Texas shaped lazy river on the roof.) It can take the valet a bit to get your car out if there's a high school tournament in town. Pretty much any hotel in the area near Minute Maid is going to require (and you're not going to want to park on the street) valet. I've got nothing on the museum district other than what I've seen is pretty.

Something like Renaissance in greenway plaza area might be a good location since its right on 59 it will be easy to get to most of those locations. Museum district Hotel Zaza wouldn't be bad depending on your budget.
edit:looks like the renaissance is a doubletree now.

There is a marriott hotel at city center sugarland. Restaurants within walking distance. Next to first colony mall. There is a perry's steakhouse near who has a Friday lunch special on their famous pork chop. Excellent.

It's not near Sugarland or NASA, but a convenient relaxing neighborhood to stay in is Houston Heights. I stayed there last May for 4 days going to Astros games, a NASA tour, a museum visit, and an outing to the Bush Presidential Library/Museum in Aggieland.. We rented a Vacation Rental By Owner ((VRBO) house in Houston Heights. It's a great neighborhood with lots of good restuarants, bars, shops; many were within walking distance of our VRBO. It was a perfect down time relaxing place to stay in.
We were able to go to the Astros games and Houston museum area without getting on the Interstates/freeways relatively easily. The distant NASA site visit took a little time to get to, but by planing to avoid rush hours it was reasonable and the outing to the Bush Library was also reasonable since Houston Heights is on the Northern side of downtown Houston.

Do not stay here. It’s old and about to close down and be converted to a Margaritaville Resort.

Near the Museum District is sort of centrally located to things you want to do and it is a generally nice area. Hotel ZaZa is nice.
Do not stay near NASA or in Sugarland. They both have nice areas, but nothing else is near there.
Down by the South Houston Tollway? - NO NO NO a 1000 times NO. Bad area. Nothing to do either. Just no!
There are a lot of nice hotels downtown and also the Galleria. Downtown has quite a few bars and restaurants. Galleria is bars, restaurants, shopping, etc, but traffic is horrific pretty much any time of the day or night.

This is the answer you will get from 98% of women in Houston, so you should probably listen

We are going to stay near the Zoo and drive to both Sugarland for the concert and out to Nasa during our time there.
I am trying to decide if we should Uber or drive and park for an Astros game.
We will spend one day at NASA and one day at the Natural Sciences museum and the gardens around it.

For the Astros game you might be able to take the Metro Rail. The Red Line runs from Museum District / Med Center up into downtown. You’d get off somewhere on Main St downtown and walk a few blocks to the stadium. Just check the schedule and beware of the hobos who like to hop on and off the trains.

Courtyard Heights or St. Regis depending on budget. Don’t stay downtown.
