This sort of helps a short term rebuild and trying to contend on a faster track.

Yeah this fits Loomis' MO.

We can win the division with Carr. We were never tearing it down to the studs since Mickey does not believe in that. Right or wrong, we shall see.

I'm in the minority that doesn't hate it. Don't shoot me, either.

Damned if you do, damned if you don’t thanks to Loomis.

It raises the bar on 2025-2026 seasons to 6-8 win type years but we’re not likely to get a top 1-5 pick either to get a stud QB in the draft.

Regardless it was an awful extension among many by Loomis recently.

I am very glad this is the decision. I would rather keep Carr than draft Ward or Sanders. Next year cut Carr and the qb class is much better.

Carr will probably be hurt early in the year again and then the tank can be on

It also does Loomis no good to say he doesn't want the guy. There is still a chance for a trade. This allows Loomis to gain some sort of leverage if that is the play.

I don’t think either was ever on the table to be drafted anyway.

He has a no trade clause.

I thought this might happen because of the Cap situation. Loomis put them in a bad situation regarding all of the moving parts and Carr's restructures.

This year will be his last.

It's too bad he won't take a pay cut.

But then again it was the Saints who had a plan to manipulate his contract from the beginning so I can't really fault him.

Could probably even ride with him for 2026 so you aren't forcing someone out there that may not be ready. Give the rookie QB until the bye week to sit behind Carr, then with the inevitable losing record going into the bye make the change

I don't mind keeping him but I sure as hell don't want to extend him.

Just for arguments sake, what is the real difference between yet another restructure making it harder to cut him the next year or two after that and an extension.

They need to leave his contract completely alone.
