Excited to watch LSU baseball again tomorrow afternoon. Who yall think gets the starting nod? Ware, maybe Guidry?
I like the idea of Mayers on Wednesday against his former team. Who’s the first guy we see make a second appearance on the mound this year?
Man, I love baseball season. This one could be especially fun. Geaux tigers!

Guidry Ware or Cowan

i’m wondering too.
I would wager Cowan gets one and Guidry gets one.
although what do you do with guidry? he isn’t going to be starting midweek games
all year.

Unreal problem to have at this juncture but I was thinking the exact same thing yesterday after watching them cruise through the first three games. Even if his velo is up, he’s the softest throwing righty option. I love his makeup and intensity on the mound but can not fathom we run #8 out to bulldog in state teams all season long in midweek matchups

I overlooked him.. Cowan is definitely getting a start in one of these next two games, good call.

Midweek games are about development. I reckon they're gonna give him a start in one of the midweek games and let him (try to) go 5 like they did with the other starters. I don't think that's gonna be the long term plan by any means but I could see that as part of the development plan, especially with them not needing him at this past weekend. After a week or two I think they'll move to trying to get some of the younger guys stretched out and/or some extra innings.

What’s at second, I don’t know is on third

Unsure is at shortstop

It’s going to be Guidry. Knowing how Jay has played players in the past with seniority, I believe Guidry starts and goes 3 innings.

Why not cowan?
I would start him @ Nicholls. Dude brings a ton of experience and that one is on the road.
Pitch Guidry/Ware against Southern

I really like how Jay has started scheduling the double midweeks and nonconference road games early in the season prior to SEC play. It gives us a chance to get a little deeper into our bullpen in the preseason so everyone has a chance to earn some PT prior to SEC play. And then it helps keep you fresher during conference play

exactly this. CJJ and Yeskie know that Guidry is an effective closer, but he also hasnt been able to be effective for outings longer then 4 outs in the past. CJJ mentioned in the preseason about trying to stretch him out so that they have more options with him. Theyre trying to develop him to get them length to come in in the 7th to put out a fire, and then keep the door shut through the 8th and 9th. As of last year, he was not capable for that.
Letting him stretch out as a starter and seeing if he can get thru the order twice will allow him to develop into that effective long reliever, like what Griffin Herring did last year.

Why 3 innings? They've clearly said they want to stretch him out as a starter. You don't see him lasting longer than 3 innings against Southern?

I hope we see Jacob Mayers at some point in the midweek.
freshman AA from Nicholls but he had that sophomore slump and would like to see where his control is at. He was great in the one inning he pitched Friday - 3 up 3 down with 2 Ks and a pop up.

This is honestly why I think he fits more in a relief/closer role. He obviously feeds off emotion which is a hard thing to sustain for 5-6 innings. I do agree that he's way too valuable to toss against the McNeeses and Nicholls of the world. Absolutely great problem to have
ETA: not that my opinion is some groundbreaking thought.

I say let him go against Southern, where he can just focus on throwing strikes rather than trying to strike out every batter he has a personal relationship with.

Everyone seems to be set on CJJ throwing someone we haven’t seen yet, even though there were a number of arms that only went out for an inning of work. Put me down for Noot to get the start. Saving Cowan Guidry Ware for Nicholls.
