If it doesn't I present La Contea Italiano Ristorante

I don't think I've ever seen it mentioned here but it is pretty fantastic in their food, the delivery, the wine, etc.

I think Nino's also qualifies. It is not always mentioned like Gino's or Ruffino's is.

Ninos isn’t the same today as a year or two ago. It had a nice 15 year run where it and Maison LaCour were the two best in BR (IMO). I would say Ninos is somewhere between 5-10 these days. Maybe not even top 10.

Pastime.

I don’t think it is rated, much less underrated…

Hate the singer. Intrusive and lends nothing to the experience. First time we ate there; the food left a lot to be desired. But we've given it several more chances and the food was much improved, but the singer kills the atmosphere.

I recently visited Ochi Sushi on Bluebonnet and was impressed with the incredibly fresh fish served. The restaurant offers specialty rolls at around $15, and a unique cash discount of 4% compared to using a card. However, I will say the men's bathroom is interesting; it features two toilets without doors, and the bathroom door itself doesn't lock. That could lead to an interesting situation.

Completely agree. I feel terrible saying it because I'm sure the fellow is a lovely man, but this dude is not like a background pianist/singer like Colonel's Club or Gino's or Stab's has. He walks around the place/walks up to tables with his microphone, essentially forcing you to watch the "show" instead of visit.

I'm honestly surprised they haven't lost enough patrons on the nights he sings to rethink having him there in that capacity.

Ok I feel I'm missing something, does this restaurant have a singer like this? Have I missed them on my experiences there?

At least on Saturday nights. That's when we would likely go.

Reminded me of Chez Paris, after they moved from Government St. to Airline Highway. They bought the old Shakey's, gutted the building and renovated. Anyway, they had a guitarist who would stroll between the tables taking requests. I felt about the same way about him intruding. One night we decided we were going to request Stairway to Heaven when he got to our table, but damn if the table before didn't request House of the Rising Sun! And he played it.

I don’t know what nights it is now, but it used to be 3 nights a week.

It’s the man on a cordless mic in front of the whole restaurant singing Sinatra and whatnot, weaving in the tables, singing to patrons, taking requests, walking into even the bar to sing to bar patrons, etc.

It’s awkward and makes the entire meal about his performance instead of whatever you originally went there for.

I went to La Contea for a restaurant week, and it was disgusting.

I'll go with Solera. I've has some mind-blowing dinners there, medium priced, great service and hospitality, A lot of dished not available elsewhere.

I always recommend Maison Lacour. Great place but not that many people know about it.
