Val Kilmer was an underrated Batman. I think he would have done awesome under a Nolan type

Too bad we got the cartoon movie

I will say that movie has this haunting iconic 90’s vibe due to the awesome music and prime Kidman.

He was fine but not memorable.

Case in point

Dude seemed to do very well given the script and movie direction. I would have liked to see him given a serious attempt at a serious take of the part.

This is definitely a nostalgia bomb that I probably couldn't review objectively.

I think the perception of this movie gets hurt because of Batman & Robin. This is a fun comic book movie. Nothing more. Nothing less.

Soundtrack was awesome.

The Batman creator said Val Kilmer was exactly how he pictured Bruce Wayne and Batman to look.

One of the best movie soundtracks of the 90s.

I’m 100% gay, but GOTDAMN NICOLE KIDMAN. She was so hawt in that.

It’d be considered as good as the first Burton Batman if they had cut Jones’s Two Face and just gone with Carrey’s Riddler.

Bill Finger never said that.

Forgot how beautiful Kidman was before she totally ruined her face.

I agree 100%.

I don't think there is much quality difference in the first 3, but people like to pretend Forever is when it got silly and that put it on par with B&R, but Returns had a similar tone. I also think the original is overrated and has the same nostalgia bomb people ITT are referencing for Forever, just for a slightly older generation.

Batman and Robin was utter and complete shite.

Kilmer and everything else in that movie were blown out by Carey. Plus Schumacher swapped Burton's cartoonish gothic eccentricity for gay costume party vibes. The soundtrack was great, the movie looked good, but nothing really ever came together with it.

given the script

Watched this one with my boy a few days ago and if stood out to me just how bad the dialogue is most of the movie. It’s straight trash.

I do like the movie, but objectively it’s not very good. I do agree that Kilmer did a decent job though. He was a believable Bruce Wayne.

I loved Carrey’s story on Norm Macdonald’s podcast about how much TLJ hated him during that movie lol.

quote:

As Carrey tells it, the animosity was there from the get-go, but was only revealed when they met during filming at a restaurant one night. "The maitre said, 'Oh, I hear you're working with Tommy Lee Jones. He's over in the corner having dinner.' I went over and I said, 'Hey Tommy, how are you doing?' and the blood just drained from his face. And he got up shaking—he must have been in mid-kill me fantasy or something like that."

"And he went to hug me and he said, 'I hate you. I really don't like you.' And I said, 'What's the problem?' and pulled up a chair, which probably wasn't smart. And he said, 'I cannot sanction your buffoonery.’”
