AP barred from press conference.

He acts like other press did not fill in the AP's spot.

If you cannot trust them to be accurate about the little things, why should they be trusted for the big things?

IRS goons visited Matt Taibbi's house on the very day he testified about government weaponization. I would think that's a bigger threat to press freedom.

Simple solution:
Continue to refer to it as GOM, but note that the USA refers to it as the GOA.

Im sure they will be filing suit soon and some judge will rule in their favor

Why does this board melt when they change a street name but applaud this? They are both filled with the same empty symbolism.

They had this fight with Acosta/CNN last term and buckled when a DC judge said otherwise.
I suspect they will take this one all the way.

I'm Team Trump but this is dumb. You can't champion free speech and then kick AP out because they refuse to call the Gulf of Mexico, the Gulf of America. Yes, the same publication immediately changed the name of Mt. McKinley to Denali but that is their right.
There will be MANY other valid reasons to give timeouts to certain members of the press. This really isn't one of those.

Perhaps be a news agency and not an activist and you'd get your privileges back.
Until then, frick off.

Will be forever grateful to the White House Correspondents’ Association for hosting that dinner in 2011.

Hey AP, shite gets renamed all the time and you've never had a problem with it so why now? Do you have a political bias/agenda against America? You do realize that Mexico and Canada are part of what is North America don't you? Trump didn't rename it the Gulf of the United States. Maybe you should read up on your geograghical history and realize the Gulf of America is aptly named to represent the whole North American continent.

Under their argument of past names as precedent going back 400 years… shouldn’t we be calling many places by different names? What they feel to acknowledge is that the name is dictated by the one who has the ability to change it and that’s the trump Administration.. we are the big stick who decides these things in the region. The quicker the world gets back that realization, the better off it will be.

Over time, I hope more of the TDS-obsessed "news sources" will get banned, too. With everything the Trump Administration is doing, it would be nice to have people asking relevant questions so we could actually receive information about what's going on.
The days when people like Jim Acosta and Jonathan Karl packed the room needs to end. And if they complain, simply remind them that they aren't real reporters, anyway. They actually agreed to submit their questions in advance when Brandon was there. Dude actually had a list of people to call on.

Where did he infringe on their free speech?

Nobody is stopping them from reporting. They're prevented from attending an event.
A press conference is a courtesy.

Here's the issue he does not want to acknowledge.
AP received funds from the Govt...which makes them part of the Govt...NOT a news agency.
This is NOT freedom of speech when they are in the room...it's pure propaganda whether they advance the President's talking points or not.

So every news group should be allowed in? Even InfoWars?
Stop being dense. Some groups are told yes, others no. AP didn't make the cut this year. Wipe away the tears, practice over the summer, and try out again next year.
