Looking for advice on first time DWI/DUI.

Always get pretty good advice on here so I thought I’d ask. Someone I know (no, it’s not me) got one recently and I told them I would ask on here. He blew a .11 and it was a first offense. Was told by someone that you don’t need an attorney if you request the pre-trial intervention within 15 days. True or not? Also was told to go and file for Article 894 and that he didn’t need one for that either. Just curious if anyone else took one of these routes without using an attorney. He really doesn’t know whether it’s imperative to hire one since it’s the first one. Any advice would be grateful.

I’m not trashy so I don’t know the answer to any of your questions. It does sound stupid to not hire an attorney though. Your “friend” doesn’t make many bright decisions so tell him to not hire one.

Better lawyer up. Going cheap on a DUI these days is a risk I would never take particularly if he has alot at stake; job, rep, family etc

Second get a lawyer and save yourself some money and future insurance hopefully you can get out of this but prepare ty anus.

You'll get the same deal whether you have an attorney or not. The min. deal.

Oh boy, you’ve hit the OT nerve. You might need to lawyer up by the time this thread is done.

This.
And do some research yourself on lawyers and the DUI laws/punishments where you live. They can be way different.

Because everyone here works in the plant or oilfield that means like 2/3 of the posters have gotten a dui before

Yep, bunch of assholes acting like they never got behind the wheel after drinking. Not saying it's right but we have all done it before if you drink.
