How many rings will Mahomes have to win to unquestionably eclipse Brady's legacy?

The "easy" answer is obviously 8, to Brady's 7.

However, I think he's going to need well more than that.

In Brady's 3 Super Bowl losses, his teams lost by a COMBINED 15 points.

In Mahomes' 2 Super Bowl losses, his teams lost by a COMBINED 40 points. This number is closer to 50-55 if Chiefs don't score 2 garbage time TDs late in 4th last night as well.

How bout the stats in the losses?

Brady's 3 Super Bowl losses combined stats:
84/137 61.3% 1047 Yds 6 TD 1 INT

Mahomes 2 losses?:
47/81 58.0% 527 Yds 3 TD 4 INT (again, this would be even worse w/o TWO garbage time TDs last night)

Brady has never "no-showed" a Super Bowl. Hell, even his first one, which was very pedestrian by his standards, saw him have 0 turnovers in a more game-manager role. Mahomes has been BAD twice in five Super Bowl appearances.

Mahomes is well on his way to being one of the best ever already, and probably is a title or two away from being considered firmly #2. But I suspect he's going to finish much more like a LeBron James whereas Brady will always be MJ of the sport.

Edit: *Zombie noted that Mahomes also lost head to head vs Brady in their only 2 playoff meetings, including a lopsided Super Bowl loss vs Brady's Bucs.

Mahomes lost to Brady both times he faced him in the playoffs and in the Super Bowl.

He'll always be the Lebron to Michael Jordan.

Mahomes cant catch Brady due the H2H unless he wins a dozen titles.

Mahomes likely wins 1-2 more titles, at most. The core of their dynasty (Kelce, jones) are all old. Their OL is trash and will need to be completely rebuilt. And they have no weapons - WR, TE and RB all need playmakers

Mahomes division was until this year one of the worst divisions in football his entire career. Now that is not the case, and it’s a tough division.

Because of the H2H I think he will need at least 1 more ring and most of the regular season stats, or 2 more rings and at least be in the ballpark of those stats

This is an exaggeration. New England reloaded around 5 times. First title relied on defense, second and third were power run games with timely Brady throws. Then they morphed into the Moss/Welker version, after Moss it was the Army of Midgets, and then Gronk/Edelmen.

Mahomes won with the high flying offense, and last year they won because of defense/power running game, so that's already two flavors. Offensive line is not "trash". They need a LT, but Thuney is still really good, Humpheries is good, and their RG/RT is super good enough.

8 SBs will do it.

however let's be real...he's not getting 7.

Brady is like Jack Nicklaus and his 18 slams...its a mythical number that everyone will be forever chasing. the best mahomes could do is become football's version of Tiger Woods and get close with 15 slams (5 SBs in this case)

Brady's team never got dominated in any Super Bowl they lost. Mahomes and the Chiefs got owned yesterday. So not comparing apples to apples.

Reid, and arguably just as importantly Spag will not be there much longer

Given how the chiefs have restocked offensive talent the past several years, I would not hold your breath assuming they are going to reload adequately

Never forget, that Brady threw for 500 Yds and his team never punted... And lost...

He was at worst serviceable in all 3 losses.

I think it's fitting, Brady has that same psychopathic drive to win at all costs, Jordan had that much more than LeBron ever has

And what you said isn’t.

There’s a nine year stretch between the first three and the last five, and the two losses to New York in between.

Only way mahomes beats Brady is 5 more Super Bowl victories where he is mvp in atleast 3 of them and 1 more regular season mvp. The 2 blowouts in the Super Bowl plus 2 H2H playoff matchup losses to Brady is a lot to overcome.

The head to head will make it nearly impossible for Mahomes to pass him.

And Michael Jordan was not as good at basketball as LeBron is.

Brady will always be the goat because Mahomes won’t win 8.

Technically his 2007 team got dominated because they were supposed to win by 50 points as the highest scoring team of all-time....And gonna be the undefeated GOAT team....they scored 14 points.

Brady had some real clunkers in Super Bowls.

Often his defense or kicker bailed him out.
