office spaces!

Yep. The gloriously overpriced boutique Star Wars resort experience which was set to expand into Paris Disney and Shanghai Disney but got scrapped in less than a year will be changed into office spaces for Disney 'Imagineers'.

No, you don't get to stay there for $6K and pretend you're a Disney employee, but you might get hired and possibly one day work there!

Dreams really can come true!

I don't know how they expected that to succeed long term given its price point.

And it was also poorly run. It wasn’t the immersive experience people were expecting.

The star cruiser was a retarded design.

They should have gone with different biomes/planets.

The floors could be Tatooine, Corusant, Kashyyk, Mustafar, and the rooms could be designed around those themes.

The windows could look out over scenery from those worlds with mustafar being lava and active stormtroopers while staying in Vader’s palace, Kashyyk with Wookies from one of the canopies, Tatooine being in Mos Eisley with a bustling spaceport, etc.

That would have pulled in tourists. It would have also justified the cost.

Disney is fricking bland and unimaginative corporate slop, so their “starship” design does not surprise me.

While the price point was stupid, I do think this would've succeeded much better had they put more focus into making the new trilogy of movies better. But fricking with those, along with the countless shitty TV show products they made, combined for a pretty huge turning away of hardcore fans.

IMO there were enough hardcore SW nerdfans to make that resort a success, at least for a while. But they completely alienated their core fanbase and magically managed to turn an IP like Star Wars into a money loser, which trickled down in all directions (including the resort).

Other than the super hardcore nerds, no one that can afford Four Seasons level prices and has infinite options for where to vacation were ever going to choose to be stuck in a hotel LARPing, with no pool, spa, or other luxury services…

fricking yikes.

Conceptually not a terrible idea but when they priced it out how did they think it was going to succeed?

6k to not go to disneyworld but sit in like a fake starship that isn’t any of the famous ones and interact with random “aliens”

that just insane

Make a Star Wars Cruise ship
and you’ll get money hand over fist.

The amount that Disney rips off their super fans and even their regular visitors makes me sick.

The issue is you were paying for an experience that was outside of the Disney Park Experience.

Disney is already expensive before tacking on a $6k 3 day stay without even being able to go into a park.

I teach teenagers... They don't care about Star Wars. The OG fans have all been pushed aside. People at Disney just do not understand how nerd franchises work. You keep the parents to bring in the kids.

If they made it the original trilogy with a Mos Eisley Catina and Darth Vader capruring people. It would have gotten fans. Instead it was new trilogy only. And priced out most fans.
I still would have gone if it was old trilogy. I just can't get into the new stuff other than the Mandoverse and Andor.
