Is this gonna be one of those things that’s cute for a bit but then becomes nauseating a little because every announcer brings it up every time he’s at the mound?

If he can’t, my brother is making up for it.

It's a shame Schmidt probably won't hit. I can just hear Lyn now:

"He can't belch, but he can belt!"

Sounds like 100% BS to me.

Let me guess, you also believe that girls don’t fart?

It’s an actual condition that’s not too uncommon, I know someone who has the same thing. You do fart more to release the gasses, and there’s an injection you could get in your throat to allow you to burp.

I don’t know the science behind it, but I do believe him. And it is a fun/interesting fact about him, which was the question posed to each player in the video for us to get to know them.

I actually just got this procedure done last Friday. Botox to the throat. Condition is called RCPD.

Genuiniely curious, is not being able to burp a big enough issue to require a procedural fix? I am trying to figure out how its an inconvenience that needs to be remedied.

It didn’t really bother me when I was younger. To my understanding it gets worse as you age. I’ve noticed it getting worse over the past 2 years or so. Not being able to get rid of the air can lead to some pretty miserable times when it comes to bloating and nausea. Feeling like shite after 2 beers or a soda isn’t very fun.

I've never been able to burp but I didn't know it was a real medical condition. There have been times I wished I could burp to relieve bloating from excessive beer drinking, but other than that it's not something I'm going to consider getting throat botox for.

If you're drinking canned beer at home, pour it into a glass. It helps.
