Giamatti as Art Bell? Yes please, in the movie theatre!

As an Art Bell fan I'll watch this, but I'd love to see a multi-episode biography series about the life of Art. He was an interesting guy.

If you haven't listened to Giamatti's CHINWAG podcast... It's very Art Bellish. Not the serious acceptance of all things weird, but a fun dive into cryptids, UFOs, scientific and occult cults... Art Bell is right up Giamatti's alley.

Yeah. He took a lot of undue flack for that. The Heaven's Gate folks didn't need Art to make them lunatics.

something like “confessions of a dangerous mind” could be a lot of fun

Coast to Coast was the best when Art Bell was the host.
Anyone would call with the most outlandish story, and Art would just go along with it and treat it as if it were real.
"Art, I battled interdimensional demons in my bedroom last night."
"Wait, you battled demons? How did you know they were interdimensional? What did they look like?"

I hope Art would approve. Paul is a great choice.

Paul better start chain smoking to get that voice on point.

Absolutely. When I was pulling all nighters in high school or college, or driving or just couldn't sleep for whatever reason, those open lines were the best. Open highway driving was the best match for it though.

If anyone wants to drift off to sleep while night interstate traffic and Art Bell plays over the radio

Loved Art Bell, and I always like Giamatti, so I'm all in on this.

Coast to Coast AM with Art Bell probably kept a lot of us awake and alive for 1000s of hours.
There was a sense of community with the show that was unlike any other show. A bunch of random mfers up in the middle of the night tuned in to this one show. If you were alone on watch in the middle of the night, in the middle of nowhere, somehow this show made you feel less alone.
Still remember random episodes and random callers to this day.
Most meorable topic was people calling in telling stories about 'shadow people.' shite would raise the hair on the back of your neck.
Nothing like driving in middle of the night and the middle of nowhere with that shite on. Even in the most remote areas you could almost always scan the AM dial and pick up the distinctive sound of Art's voice over static.
If you want to bring back some of those memories, check out some of the Art Bell bumper music playlists on Apple and some of the other major platforms.
Lastly, Art's book 'The Quickening' that he used to talk about all the time sounds a lot like what we are seeing now day-to-day.

I was working overnights in a convenience store in the late 90s, so I got to hear quite a bit of Art.
He was a favorite of the local cops, too. They'd come in and ask "Who's Art got on tonight?", and listen for a couple of minutes.

Loved that stuff!
I'm excited about this film.
