Who here drives a reasonably new car, but never uses Apple CarPlay?

… yes, of course assuming you have an iPhone.
It is incredible how many people I see driving a brand new car and still talk with the phone up to their ear like we had to do 20 years ago.
Safety fail.

I have to have my Apple CarPlay. My only issue is oftentimes Siri has difficulty understanding my Southern accent when I’m trying to text someone.

Olds act like connecting your phone is some insurmountable leap in technology that just isn’t feasible for anyone born earlier than 1995.

Real men arent worried about "safety"

Nah. I don’t make or answer phone calls while driving.

That’s not really an option for me, at least during business hours. Apple CarPlay allows me to safely call and text while keeping my eyes on the road. When I get into my truck, I connect and don’t touch it again until I get where I’m going.

I use just the call feature and directions.
I’ve never tried to send a text.

Why? Are you a sales manager for a large industrial rental company or something? If so, I get it, that’s a very important job

My phone isn't an apple.

I use it all day, every week day. Can’t live without it at this point.

I have a rivian which does not have car play. But I can still talk through the vehicle without having the phone up to my ear so I don’t see your point?

CarPlay really shines when traveling. I will wait my arse in the rental lot until my phone is hooked up to the car before I’ll try to drive and look at my phone map.

At this point, I would not buy a car that didn’t have CarPlay integration. Period.

I never use it. Maybe I can get a young’un to show me how.

I got my son a 2018 Tacoma last year and it does not have car play. Since I got that truck, my new truck has car play and I wish I would’ve gotten him a 2020 or newer with car play. Had no idea what it was at the time. My previous truck was a 2016 F150 that did not have car play.
I’ve looked into putting a head/display from a newer Tacoma, but from everything I’ve read it’s not a plug and play type thing and would need multiple harnesses and sometimes the maps, hands free stuff doesn’t work, etc.

You plug your phone in. I understand, someone of your intellect will have trouble with this

What does CarPlay have to do with talking with phone up at driver’s ear?
