WBB PMAC Officiating

I know sometimes I can be a homer like anyone else, but boy the officiating for WBB games at the PMAC is atrocious.
I cant see any type of consistency and the game is a mishmash of incredibly blind, inconsistent, garbage make up calls one after another.
And it seems to go against LSU easily on a 2-1 basis.
Example last night, LSU get called for a charge 4 times and the replay shows the defender is not only not planted, but is running next to our player.
Next time down the floor ref's blow the whistle when the ball passes half court. No idea what the fowl is - make up call because they screwed up the last call.
Last night the OU center was throwing elbows in the open like she was in the octagon, never called it. Called our players for flopping. Our center give her a little of the same medicine, - whistle.
It is like this every game but last night was criminal.
I am not knocking OU - if you let me get away with I am going to keep doing it.

The OU coach seemed more upset about the officiatig than we did.

She got a tech too, and no one knows what it was for.

I usually can see exactly what happens by watching on TV and replaying the foul. Of a handful on both teams I did agree with a couple of 50/50 fouls. However, I did see, upon replay, a few that were definitely not fouls. For example their center hooked our defender with a right arm/elbow and actually tossed her to the floor. The call was against our player. Yuck, bad call.

I agree with most of what you said, officiating was horrible, but charges can still be called when the defensive player isn’t set but the offensive player either lowers the shoulder or extends the arm.

OU coach was running on the court chasing down the ref during the game while the game was going on. Thats why

The game was terribly officiated for both sides. It started with Samyah and the other girl being ejected. I would be hard pressed to call that "fighting" warranting two ejections. Then the OU coach gets a tech seemingly without a warning for what I could only assume was being outside the coaches box. Then Kim gets a tech for pointing at the video board. Then Del Rosario gets a tech for flopping, again seemingly without a warning. There was 53 total fouls called for a game that didn't seem to be more physical than any other women's basketball game. People will look at the score and blame bad defense, but the reality is the officials did not allow either team to play physical defense. They put both teams in foul trouble and forced most of the players on the court to have to worry about not fouling while playing defense. That is the primary reason for the ridiculous score we saw last night

The male official doesn't belong on the college level... his mechanics are terrible, along with his ability to make calls; the 2 female officials had the whistles stuck in their mouths and failed to make obvious calls, especially on #52 of OU, who was shooting elbows and pushing like crazy all game... she should have fouled out early on in the game

Here’s the root problem. WBB has gotten more popular and Kim Mulkey and her teams draw a lot of eyeballs. Nationally televised game in a packed PMAC with obscure referees who usually work in front of 3-400 people. Perfect storm.
These refs get the big head and think people tune in to see them. There is a “I’m not gonna let Mulkey intimidate me” mindset which leads them to call a ton of fouls. They LOVE stopping play for bogus “reviews” and milking them for all they are worth because all eyes are on them. It’s their moment in the sun. This trio didn’t try to hide it. They love making those exaggerated signals and that one ref was smiling before she got on the mike.
Calling 53 fouls is ridiculous. And most of that was not “physical” play but the officials wanting to insert themselves as part of the game. It’s a problem and it makes the games unwatchable whistling every trip down the court and the many interminable stoppages for reviews.
The NCAA and the networks need to view this as the big problem it is.

That and when there are that many folks, there are alot of free throws. I never saw the total number. I'll look it up.
ETA: 63 free throws. Lsu made 23, OU made 21.

They said it was technical because it was the second flopping call on LSU. But no one can recall when the first warming was.

Ref were horrible. When you show up with a couple of cornfeds pushing 250, you have to know its going to get rough. Let them play, but not bully.
I think Kim is OK with that.

Beers' elbow was way worse than what ADR did yet Beers got away with it and ADR didn't AFTER review. That was objectively bad and Beers clutching her pearls made it hilarious.

How can anyone officiate with the rules that have been abandoned in NCAA basketball.
The rule is up to the mindset of the officials on that game.

That is an understatement; he clearly had an agenda. This game should be reviewed by the SEC, and he should be suspended.

And if you actually watch the replay closely, the OU player stepped on her foot and she fell backwards
The NCAA should not allow this crew to officiate again

she is very easy on the eyes

OU player clearly pushed Flaujae with her elbow and they called Flaujae for flopping.
