Zion sitting out B2Bs is the low hanging fruit on the tanking tree

They are handling his return perfectly. His usage is at the highest it's been since he's been in the league and he's doing it in limited minutes with the type of efficiency we expect from him.
They're slowly ramping him up. And he looks fresh and it's sustainable. He's up to 28 minutes now and will continue to slowly work his way back up to where he needs to be by the end of the season.
Keep his arse healthy and in shape. And maybe it'll help rebuild his value along the way.

Him going into an offseason actually healthy and in shape for once would be a pretty big bonus

“Best shape of his life” to start the season and he played 5 games in 8 days leading to a 30 games absence.
Z can frick off with complaints about limiting his back to backs until he stops training with his stepfather, starts a legit diet, and actually gets into real shape.

We're going to get duped by him again aren't we?

Whatever increases his trade value AND keeps us in the bottom three I’m 100% for
Otherwise, they’re just wasting everyone’s time

There is absolutely no reason to play him back to backs and or heavy minutes. Keep him at 28-30 MPG with rest days. Season is lost and there is no reason to finish the season with Zion hurt again

The only issue that I have with the B2B situation is when they have one home and one away game. The Pels are still choosing which game he plays strategically, as if they're doing their best to win as many games as possible. For the sake of Pels fans (especially the ones still showing up), he should be playing in all of the home games

Can't the Pels get fined for admitting they are sitting healthy players?

Can we just trade him at this point. Relationship is clearly fractured. He’s an unserious player and we are an unserious franchise, a match made in hell.

Pels can be fined for sitting him in some of these away games. For example, our only game in Charlotte this year. I know it sounds backwards, but that’s what it is.

Didn't know that. It makes sense for the NBA to enforce that for stars that play ~70 games a year, with the thinking being that the home fans get to see him play a ton of games. But the rule should be waived for guys like Embiid/Zion where they miss a frickload of games.

Who is going to tell the Pelicans they need to ride Zion harder? If this was someone with no major injury history, it may cause issues, but Zion is the poster boy for load management.

I’m going to be honest. I have read this in the past, and have seen it play out on many occasions. But damn if I can find anything official that states this. So take it with a grain of salt. Might be one of those unwritten rules.
