Fat lady didn't sing just yet! Few divers early, few big ducks in the middle of day, a few teal late afternoon and just found a hole in the swamp that the woodies are piling in to. Might just pull an all day-er on Friday.

But seasons been very down in general compared to last year. Not the worst, not near the worst, just down in recent memory.

Past 2 years have been the worst I’ve ever seen in Venice. I’ve been fishing instead of hunting since Christmas. No birds.

One of my best goose seasons to date in 52 years of guiding. Duck hunting wasn’t great, but wasn’t terrible. All in all not too shabby considering the funky weather we had.

I hunted once this season. I refused to shoot wood ducks and that's all we saw. I killed zero. I put out wood duck boxes along the waterfront in my back yard and watch them when they hatch out. Today I had fifty or sixty wood ducks on my property trying to find acorns. Nope, I ain't gonna shoot them. I don't know what those are on the tailgate. I didn't see them when I used to hunt a lot.

Got a lot better when the snook started swimming upside down, on the surface, last week

Piss poor for the first 52 days of the season. Ended with a bang, with a few great hunts.

Not too bad in southwestern Louisiana. Early season was definitely better than lately, though.

Same here. The first 3 weeks before the first cool snap was unbelievable. We were smoking the teal. After that, it’s been very up and down.

My worst season ever. I think I killed two ducks that weren't teal. I never saw a pin or mallard in range.

Killed 49 ducks the first split. Only 3 the last two splits. And people are trying to sis-so-row my blind. We don't kill shite in the second, and now the third split, thanks LDWF.

Made one hunt in Venice around Thanksgiving. Shot one teal. In a spot that would have thousands of birds 5-6 years ago. Made 9 fishing trips there from Sept-Jan 1 and cleaned around 1,110 fish.

Went on a trip with a client to Arkansas a couple weeks back. Had 2 good days.

Better than last year, but not great. Had some good hunts here and there.

Big picture, though, very few grays down and a whole lot being killed in ARK and MO. Some long time SW La clubs even stopped doing hunts for a bit, reportedly....pretty scary.

Was either feast or famine for me most of the season. Started off slow in October, was really only killing my pintail with an occasional teal or 2. Didn’t pick up until we got some rain in the area. Couple weeks leading up to Christmas and right after were pretty damn solid. Then the snow and ice came and they moved out. They came back on thaw and next front got to -3 here and never really thawed before season ended.

Ended up averaging 2.8 a hunt. Most of my hunts were in the afternoon after work. Went to lease in bayou black and limited on ringers few days in a row. Several trips to OK, some great hunts and some i never reached for my gun. Hunted public for the most part.

Pretty slow in St. Bernard, but enjoyable. Lost my old dog in November and got to bring my now 18-month old through her first duck season. It was really cool to see all of that come full circle. We hunted together 26 times and by number 10 or so, she was dialed in.

She picked up just under 150 birds on the season. Not as much as I'd hoped for, but I spent a lot of time hunting by myself just because of lack of ducks, so not too bad. I also didn't really hunt her opening weekend because (a) she was so green and (b) we had a ton of alligators.
