Do you think this would be a good idea?

Quarter length isn’t going to change the fact that players don’t play, there are too many games, and the last 2 minutes takes 30 minutes

Would have no meaningful impact

How is Westbrook’s teammates gonna let him get a triple double now?

Pretty stupid idea. Why not just cut down on number of games per season? Enforce your stars actually playing? NBA loves to create problems instead of looking around at the ones currently happening.

So they'll make the game 8 minutes shorter, but have the same number of ads, making the product even worse than it already is.

All the league needs is to tighten up officiating just a little more to help defenses and keep it consistent.

Scoring has been down a bit this season and there have been some fantastic games over the last few months, and there are some really good defenses right now, but the officiating seems too inconsistent so you don't know if you're gonna get a game called tight or one where the teams combine for 300 points.

How would that make a difference?

It isn’t the length of the game.

It never has been an issue.

The gameplay sucks.

Remove the 3 pt line.

That would fix the game.

NBA should add the Rock N Jock 10 point and 25 point shots

Absolutely not. Stupid idea. Let’s eliminate the “bench” minutes and change the entire concept of depth and roster creation.

Fix the 3 pt line. Changing court dimensions alters the game’s history much less than shortening the game. You could make 3s count 2.5 pts and have a 2 light counter that adds a point everytime it lights up twice. Just another random idea.

It’s not rocket science. No one likes 20-30 point blowouts cause the only smart strategy is to chuck up 3s. There’s no nuance and variance to the games anymore. They’re all the same. Push that line back 2-4 feet all the way around the court. With the way guys shoot these days, that’s still feasible, but it makes the two worth more.

The last 2 minutes can take a 2 hour product and turn it into a 2:30 product with the last :30 being painful

Give each team 3 timeouts per half and only one timeout can be called per team the last 60 seconds. That would make basketball infinitely more enjoyable

These league/conference commissioners and presidents just don’t get it. Stop screwing with the game to make up for stupid TV timeouts and longer seasons that have adversely affected game play. They just keep making it worse.

Just come out and say it’s all entertainment and we just want to make money.

And cutting it down by 2 mins per quarter will result in a 1:50 product being 2:15.

It won’t make any significant difference.

It isn’t the length. It’s the gameplay, refs, etc.

go to olympic fiba rules

Trapezoid-shaped key or lane
In the Olympics, basketball rules are slightly different from the NBA and Eurleague. The biggest difference is the trapezoid-shaped key or lane, which gives an advantage to shooters and players with more skill. Unlike the NBA, where players cannot camp out in the paint for the whole possession and need to clear the lane every three seconds, in the Olympics, there is no one stopping a player from staying under the rim the entire time

'We don't have a quality issue... we have a perception issue' is a favorite quote of commissioners and fanboys.
