There is no real debate if anyone pays attention. But simple stats should shed at least a little light on the subject. She was second in the league in defensive rebounds.

DREB per game

Aja Wilson - 9.8
Angel Reese - 8.1
Dearica Hamby - 7.7

YW 8.1 rebounds per game would have been 10th.



If we look further we see that for total rebounds per game


Angel Reese - 13.1
Aja Wilson - 11.9

If we use the Google machine we find that according to Stephen Noh of The Sporting News, 34 of Reese's 97 total offensive rebounds were from her own misses and that Reese played in 34 games. 34 rebounds in 34 games is 1 per game. So assuming that Aja Wilson had 0 self rebounds and we subtract Angel's she is still ahead 12.1 to 11.9.


I don't get why people feel the need to degrade one player because they like another (not you). Clark is very likely to be the best player in the league possibly as soon next season. And I never got the memo where rebounding your own miss was a bad thing (other than the miss, obviously).

They play that 3x3 on a full court? Why? People definitely don't want to see a WNBA fast break/layup fest. Just adopt the Olympic format and have round robin tournaments. Less space, faster pace, short games = easier to watch.

Rebounds are the most overrated individual stat. As a team it can add up, but for an individual, most rebounds are gained simply by the nature of the position. For example, a center at minimum can grab 9 rebounds a game without doing anything special at all. And a great rebounding center might grab 12 a game.

So the difference between an average rebounder and a great rebounder is 3 rebounds a game.

That’s nice and all, but if a player’s best skill is rebounding and they can’t do much else, that player is not helping the team as much as it looks like they are.
